About one person in 3,900 has coronavirus in homes in England, according to the Office for National Statistics' latest infection survey.

This is about 14,000 people in England.

But that’s based on eight infections in nearly 26,000 people swabbed, so the figure could be anywhere between 5,000 and 31,000.

The figure is lower than last week’s estimate (one in 2,200).

This is getting lower all the time. I don't think I even interact with 3900 people in a week to meet the 1 person with the virus on average!

Numbers are right buggers though, @Jon - you could interact with 10 people and 3 of them might have it!

But I agree, I like those odds. I'm starting to book things up again. And hopeful I can start to do my job again by the end of the year.

Woop gyms back open in 2 weeks and outdoor concerts are a go!!

all those companies that cancelled them 3 months ago is probably regretting the decision they made to cancel it because they pulled the trigger far too early!

I burst into tears of I'm not sure what...relief? All my work for the rest of the year (two gigs in November, eight in December, if they happen) is indoors, obviously, but I'm hopeful a few venues might be inventive in terms of putting on distanced outdoor galas now.

I might actually have not just a job, but an entire industry to go back to.

And yes, I also have no excuse not to a) get my eyebrows and nails done, and b) go back to the gym now.

The R number must be so low in the community

We have protests involving thousands and nothing happens, packed beaches and nothing happens...

So pleased for you. Do you think there will be a rush of companies booking outdoor events

I bloody well hope so!

Just about to phone my usual "putting stuff on" partner in crime and see if he's up for lashing a few gigs together. We have a stately home at our disposal (not ours!), so might be able to do something good.

Oh blimey, I'm really excited. Wish I hadn't caned PPH for writing so much (and got a lot, not that I'm ungrateful!) as all I actually want to do now is SING.

The only issue with excluding supermarkets is that there will be a lot of people who then could not spend it. My dad could not walk around the high street and in reality there is little or nothing he would want that he could not get in a supermarket
I see your point. I was just thinking that supermarkets are not in trouble so if we are to help save jobs, this money has to go to shops that weren't open during the lockdown. Perhaps they could make them transferable. As this money is probably not even going to be distributed, I think we are overthinking this, lol. :D

In that case, just give the money straight to the shops that need it.

From a 'customer' point of view it is quite annoying how quickly all these outdoor concerts / gigs we had booked in for August / September got cancelled before the middle of April and now it's going to be a scramble I think for Councils and the like to put events ON

it was an impossible situation at the time plus a lot of concerts would have had artists/singers from abroad who may not have been able to attend depending on their county's situations.

The government may end up having to do something as despite the opening of shops, myself and my family aren't going shopping much beyond food as can't think of a single thing we need or want! Perhaps three months of Lockdown has 'cured' us of consumerist behaviour! This may be an actual problem, a lot of my friends haven't bothered to go out shopping for the same reasons, I haven't even done much online shopping.

It's going to be interesting to see what kind of normal we have when the dust settles.

I’m delighted to be able to see my dad next week after 7 months as he’s coming up to stay to form a bubble with us. We are on school summer holidays now (1 weeks down) so another adult for support will really help now the husband is back working. He has so much work he’s feeling a little overwhelmed - but that’s a good thing.

Plus my kids can socialise with other kids indoors and outdoors. Got them all geared up with their face coverings too for when we do have to venture into a busy indoor public place. They look like wee ninjas. However with them being competitive swimmers they really are missing training at the pool. No date for that yet in Scotland. However things are definitely moving forward with cases mostly below 10 each day and deaths to a minimum.

So my season ticket (well mine and the wifes) has been all over the place for leeds Rhinos / super league / rugby league.

It season is starting again in August with (they hope) crowds allowed in sept/oct

They are giving us the option of getting our money back but i'm doing the right thing and letting them keep it lol

Wigmore Hall has had a bit of cash out of me in tickets I didn't refund. If even a penny allowed them to put on the recitals to an empty hall through June and keep a bit of hope alive, then that's money extremely well spent.

Everton did the same but we had the option of donating to Everton in the Community. They raised £400,000 and the owner and chairman matched it between them.
