It's the age group of the parents of all of the little kids that are chatting together at the school gates without social distancing. (apologies to parents who follow the rules)
I was out at school time this morning and there were big groups of both parents and of senior school kids all hanging around nattering with no social distancing at all :(

I received a WhatsApp message this morning from a nosy parent to say my kids primary school has its first case. The other half of my daughters year group (who share a class with half of the year group below) were sent home first thing this morning. Did think it was strange when I saw the DHT accompanying kids out of the the playground at 9am rather than encouraging them in!

Seeing LOADS of people complain online about the fact they can't even get a home test kit to them as they have 'run out' ?!?!?

The thing is the “you are coming back to work” decision is made at the company / manager level not at the employee one so it’s really not even up to them!

Plus most of these decisions were made ages ago, I have friends who were told they would return earliest in 2021 back in April. They aren't going to reverse that decision to please the Government especially as financially they are actually saving money.

The success of this forced experiment means a lot of companies are happier about homeworking and many people will opt to work several days at home and never return full-time to the office. I think this is a chance to rebalance the economy in London. Local high streets have been dying for decades yet they are now booming if my local ones are anything to go by. The wealth of London is being spread around! Central London will always draw the crowds as it has the greatest museums, restaurants, theatres etc but the pandemic does show it also needs a proper local population. Things won't be the same and I don't think anything the Government says will change this.

I think you need to compare that case bar chart with a population pyramid. There are less 80 year old in the population. Our local High Street in Bristol is booming as well. They have just opened a huge Asian supermarket.

My son’s girlfriend works at a primary school, and she says the parents are congregating in large numbers every morning with no social distancing or masks. They have been sent letters, but they won’t stop.

I work at a uni, and I think when the students return there will be a proper spike in the numbers.

New restrictions will be put in place:

  • Restrict all hospitality to take-away only.
  • All venues must close from 10pm to 5am.
  • No socialising outside households will be put into law

Does this mean they are closing all the restaurants / cafes / pubs in Bolton then?

I guess they are open but you just can't go in them? Does that even make sense?

Tougher measures were needed as the number of cases in Bolton was getting out of hand fairly quickly.

I’m yeah I think this is what they should go straight to with local lockdowns instead of just “no mixing households”

Reading over all of this I feel quite lucky, I moved just before lock down out of town to local farming estate, so just a few houses 5 minutes from civilisation but feels very remote. I have good internet and a garden. Being on Furlough was rough but I was the first one of my team back in June. My work have let us go on flexi working from home - they don't want us all in a once so we sort out in our team if anyone wants to go in. Mostly its just to print off paperwork or have a catch up. I could happily live like that forever. The hardest part of my job is keeping up with the quarantine rules, not that it effects our drivers but sometimes they have grooms on board for the horses, that is tricky. Air travel is still really hard to organise even if you do own the plane, the airline and it's all your own staff!
Having a horse on DIY livery meant I was fair free to live my life as normal during lockdown, in that I went out to see him twice a day.

I went into Cambridge for the first time at the weekend, went on the train for the first time since February. It was weird but felt ok.
We all feel fairly safe, we have a low infection rate. The flair ups are schools and poultry facilities. I am still wary though. My mum lives near Huddersfield and cannot wait to move here. She does not feel safe at all up there.
As for earning while at home, I just need to get a bit more organised so I can do both ;)

I'm trying really hard to work out what you do for a living. I've probably misunderstood but it sounds like your Company has its own drivers, horses and planes?

You work for an international shire horse aerobatic display team ?
