Quite agree. His whole body language looks like a person who is feeling like crap, but is trying to hide it. If you look at his hairline, were he's missed the permatan, he looks very pale. I think the whole 'I feel better than I have for 20 years' thing is pure propaganda.

I avoid the news about him. Never has the World needed leaders more and instead we've got crap actors propped up by PR men. I can't even be bothered to be annoyed anymore.

the WHO has changed its minds so many times about a vaccine!

There is hope that an effective vaccine against the coronavirus will be ready by the end of this year, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) has said.

WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the world needs to use “all the tools at hand” to end the pandemic, including - but not limited to - vaccines.

“There is hope by the end of this year that we may have a vaccine. There is hope,” Dr Tedros said on Tuesday at the end of a two-day meeting of the WHO’s executive board.

I had my flu jab this morning from the local pharmacist. They've become a friend over the past decade so we nattered for a bit as you might expect.

Their view is that for most people, the Covid-19 vaccine will be delivered with - and possibly as part of in the same jab - next year's flu vaccine, with those that have age or medical vulnerability vaccinated significantly sooner.

They can't see mass vaccination coming sooner than September of next year, but they also reckon that if the vulnerable are protected then restrictions will more or less be lifted entirely anyway.

If the old / vulnerable get given the jab at the end of the year is that not enough? The rest of who could get it at WORST would get the flu like symptoms and we would have to accept it like we do with other illnesses

Two vulnerables here that just can't wait for a vaccine. Even though shielding has been lifted, we still have to be very careful and are pretty much staying indoors apart from medical stuff and even that is being done by video wherever possible! I've left the house four times since March. Three of those were funerals, and one for a medical appointment.
When that vaccine comes, we're outta here!

I had it very mildly, and I’m suffering extreme fatigue and muscle aches seven months on. I’m 51, a bit podgy, and otherwise fit and well. Long Covid is no joke.

Have you been back to the doctors? Is there anything they can give you to help?

Yes, and apart from "we have no idea what we're dealing with here, sorry, you'll just have to wait it out", they have nothing much to say. I'm slowly getting better, but it's just not worth the risk - it's not a "mild" illness for anyone, really. I don't know a single person who's had it who isn't still suffering something.

I should add, I can just about function as 'normal' as I'm working from home and can take a couple of naps a day. If I had to go out to work every day...well, at the moment, I just couldn't.

Yes, I had to walk out of the lab this morning to save me punching a student who seemed to think the whole social distancing thing is funny. Some of the young think they're invincible and obviously don't care about their older relatives.

I agree. I had it badly in April with breathing difficulties, a terrible cough, possible pnemonia and extreme fatigue. GP at the time told me to stay at home unless things got really bad so I did, never got a test. I am largely ok now but I notice that when I go out and about doing normal activities, I'm exhausted for the rest of the day. I can do a short shop but anything that takes a couple of hours literally knocks me out. I know this is not normal but GPs can only offer the advice of take it easy, eat well etc. I have been on a health kick, veg, fruit, supplements, gentle exercise, lots of sleep and I am hoping this will eventually make a difference.

ooooooooh

I can believe this, given my experience last weekend at the Flu jab clinic, this time it was in a hall, loads of hand sanitiser, 5 lanes marked out and a secretary and nurse on each lane, it was set up for a large scale operation. I was there with one other person so it looked a bit like overkill. They admitted this was a practice for a much larger scale operation in the future.

Interesting, was this near newmarket then?
