another relative is having the jab today. Over 70 and no underlying conditions so they appear to be hitting groups 3 and 4 now

Our local taxi firm is doing the same. Not that we'll use it, as the local vaccination centre is less than a mile away. With the one way system, and a short cut under the railway, its quicker to walk.

I should uncloak and say that I had my vaccine when mum had hers on Saturday - they were doing all accompanying carers as it was Pfizer (and as JVT said, "it's not a yoghurt") and they didn't want to waste any.

Be prepared for an arm that wants to drop off, and quite alarming flu like symptoms for a day. I feel fine today, except for being tired and having a sore arm. Worth it. Covid was an experience I don't wish to repeat.

Israeli study out today says it's again looking increasingly likely that the Pfizer jab stops transmission of the virus.

if you are the government you are in a right sticky position because if you tell people this then it's going to be hard as anything to get them to follow the rules!!

I've always thought that if a jab gives you immunity, then you can't catch whatever disease it is protecting you against. So if you can't catch it, you can't spread it. That's the whole idea. But then I'm not a scientist, so what do I know :ROFLMAO:
I suppose the government could play up the not everyone gets immunity from the jab, so act like you aren't covered angle, but I doubt it would work.

There is no evidence the vaccines give anyone immunity from catching Covid.

Basically, vaccines give your immune system a jump start by teaching your body how to make specific antibodies. Then once you are exposed, in this case to a virus, your body will remember how to make those antibodies and can fight the virus much quicker. The quicker you fight it, the milder the symptoms you experience and the less likely you are to infect someone else.

If your nearest centre is nearby, it might be worth letting them know that if they've got any left at the end of the day that you can get there quickly. A Group 6 friend was done today under those circumstances. They can't afford to be seen to be binning that Pfizer, the state we're in.

Thanks for that - they have told me they don''t do that and I need to speak to my own doctor.

An additional 301,362 vaccinations given over the past 24 hours. A total of 4,419,704(England only).

Doctor on 5 live said their surgery are only updating gov twice a week on their numbers as they’re so busy. So daily numbers aren’t gonna be worthwhile reading really on this.

I think it's going to fluctuate a lot as supply ebbs and flows - I reckon the weekly numbers are going to be something to be really hopeful about.
