what do we think about this roadmap then?

Seems like it's quite a slow one but i think it's worth it if it means we can go to sports / concerts etc again by June!

Also at some point we are going to have to stop getting so focused on the infection numbers

If 95% of deaths are stopped we would be able to have days of infections in the 10,000+ and naff all deaths or hospitalisations..

He's taken a cautious approach which is good, there are targets for everyone to look to now and ensure that they are adhering to all the measures to ensure that we do not backwards.

As for naff all deaths or hospitalisations I don't think that will be the case, we will still see that but hopefully in small numbers.

I think that's where we're going.

My only concern in Long Covid. We still don't know enough about it (i.e. the thick end of sod all), and there are cases of post-viral illness in people who were otherwise completely asymptomatic.

But we can't stay shut down forever.

That we knew of. It was the last week of February that I thought the Jubilee Line sounded like a TB ward!

I assume there must be a bit of a problem with supply at the moment. The numbers of jabs have been way down the last couple of days since Boris said he wanted to speed up. Suggestions of all over 50s getting their first jab by end of March look way off the mark at the moment.

Hopefully rates will pick back up to around 500K per day soon, or we might not be able to open things up as quickly as hoped. I for one am worried about possibly being back in work next week with another 2 months wait for my first jab.

Almost 70,000 fines handed out for coronavirus lockdown breaches

Police have handed out nearly 70,000 fines to people for breaching COVID-19 lockdown rules since they came into force, with more than 6,000 issued in a single week, new data shows.

Figures published by the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) on Thursday show that a total of 68,952 Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) were issued by forces.

Of this figure, 63,201 fines were handed out in England and 5,751 in Wales between 27 March last year and 14 February.

Fines shot up following the introduction of Tier 4 restrictions before Christmas, as well as the latest national lockdown in England on 4 January - reflecting a move towards quicker enforcement by police.

A total of 4,752 fines were handed out in the seven days to 11 February, down from 6,218 the previous week, but higher than the first lockdown's peak of 3,294 during the week of the Easter bank holiday in April.

This appears to be a steep rise compared with a few weeks ago, when it was reported that a total of 2,564 fines were issued in the seven days to 14 January, compared with 2,225 the previous week.

People aged 40-49 next in line for Covid-19 vaccine

People aged 40-49 will be prioritised next for a Covid-19 vaccine, Professor Wei Shen Lim from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has announced.
In phase two of the UK's vaccine rollout, it says priority will be given by age in the following order:
- All those aged 40-49- All those aged 30-39- All those aged 18-29

As a 39 year old I am THIS CLOSE to getting the jab lol

Our town's numbers are going up instead of down! +72 this week :(
Question is

do case numbers matter so much if hospitalisation / deaths are avoided because of the vaccine
