UK 'does not receive any AstraZeneca vaccines from EU'

Rachel Schraer
BBC Health Reporter
During a briefing, executive vice president at AstraZeneca, Ruud Dobber, said the UK did not receive any of its AstraZeneca vaccines or components from the EU.
Fellow executive vice president Mene Pangalos then clarified that one "tiny" batch which "hasn't been approved yet" had been sent to the UK from Halix, a plant in the Netherlands that has an agreement with AstraZeneca to manufacture the vaccine.
Imported batches of vaccine have to be tested on arrival.
Halix was one of the University of Oxford's original partners for manufacturing the vaccine, Reuters reported.
The UK is mostly self-sufficient when it comes to the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine - and has ordered 100 million doses of the jab.
The EU is mainly being supplied with the AZ vaccine by the US and by a site in Belgium, the company confirmed.

interesting.....

People want different things. I loved some of the department stores but younger ones don't want to walk through about 6 departments to get what they want. Individual shoe shops or casual wear shops are preferred. Young Mr Grace may not like it - not referring to you Homie :) - but a lot of them have had their day.
I think city centres will become more like cultural centres. There will be fewer office buildings but they will be replaced by more residential, more leisure, more specialist shopping and better outdoor spaces. I agree with you and don't think evolution has to mean worse.

Are we worried about the 3rd wave or uptick in school age people having coronavirus?

I think the resentment between those that have had the jab and those that haven't is only going to grow!

So far the upswing isn't resulting in any additional hospitlsations or deaths by the looks of it (though the latter would lag anyway)

100% on this one, most of my older friends have been done, but some of my younger friends have too and their health issues are the same as mine, yet I was told I am not 'asthmatic' enough to have it. So must be that those areas have a lower over 50s population maybe. I am getting really worried about not getting the jab any time soon as I am in the 30s bracket. So no pub passport for me, if they bring that in.
Only upside is that the longer it goes on the longer I work from home, as I am pretty sure once we are vaccinated they will make us go back full time.

i've been reading on reddit of people in the 40s and even one who was 37 who got invited this week for their jab with no pre-existing condition

The thing is if you look on the NHS Dashboard you can see that the age group getting the cases at the moment are the unvaccinated ones (teens-50s) so clearly the vaccine is working with those who have been lucky enough to have it!

I don't think so. If you tested over 6 million every week in the 60 to 70 year old group you would probably get similar positives to the school and college group.

But would you though as isn’t the transmission less in that age groups that have been vaccinated compared to those that haven’t

I think the issue we have at the moment is that those who actually have to mix every day (schoolkids and the general working age population) havent been vaccinated yet

Nope. You can be vaccinated and still get it. Although a proportion of all these results will be false positives anyway.

How has post-vaccination transmission data not been established yet? Surely Israel have a good idea by now? I'm thinking It probably has, but advertising the fact that it reduces transmission would result in those jabbed flaunting the rules entirely “because they can’t spread it”
