I'm thinking of taking up a spa membership in January.
My level of fitness has been poor for a while now but this is exacerbated by mobility problems which, in turn, drags down my level of fitness. Catch 22.
Anyway, there's a spa 4 stops on the bus from me. It has a swimming pool (I love swimming) and includes 2 Aquafit classes a week. There's also a small gym where you have access to a fitness coach plus a sauna and jacuzzi (great for those aching muscles).
There are other pools available and I could have a swim card for £30 per month but, due to my location, it would mean 4 bus journeys and two hours travel time for every session. I'm not convinced I'd have the energy to attend regularly.
Spa membership is £70 per month. There's no minimum commitment so I could cancel at any time.
I've worked out, at 3 session pw, I'd be looking at £9.30 per session (two of them classes).
If I only managed two a week that would come in at around £11 per session.
Do you think this is excessive?
I'd really like some objective opinions before I commit any money.
Thank you.

There is honestly NO NEGATIVE to doing more fitness in my mind so go for it I say, the prices are pretty reasonable!

Thanks Jon. As I've never had a membership of any kind, I'm clueless as to what constitutes a reasonable fee.Admittedly I felt a bit weird posting this as the aim of the site is to make/save money. :)

I've been thinking about signing up to a spa for all the massages and what not!

The massages and spa treatments at this place do have an additional fee (sadly) but it's certainly an incentive to make/save money for the additional treats. :)

I'd say go for it. You can't really put a price on your health, also, mentally it's great to have a way to rest and recharge.

I've been a member of an expensive gym (£120 a month!) and I found the journey to it was enough of an excuse not to go!

£90 a month is a lot of money but at the same time, its a nice target to increase your money-making by to help encourage you. Does your Spa have a cafe/relaxing area with free wifi or computers? That would be a good way to breakup a completely wfh lifestyle by spending lots of time at the spa, regardless of actually spending all that time working out.

My expensive gym had a cafe with iMacs and cheap tea/coffee so would have been a great place to work if I didn't actually have a day job to do! :D

My advice would be if it isn't a 12 month contract then go for it! 1 month to see how it goes. 1 month to then see if you stick at it.
