I got a message about the UK English Text-Audio Correction going up to 13c, but for whatever reason I keep failing the test. Just don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Did you read my post above? I tried the test and failed twice. Did you do what I did regarding missing/wrong text? Also, did you just click on the tags at the bottom of the screen to insert them, or, did you actually type the tags in like this - [v_n/]?

Yes, I pretty much did what you did, correcting words, inserting missing words etc

As for the tags I just clicked on them, pretty sure that bit is right, surely if they had wanted the [v-n] tags etc, they wouldn't have put them like that at the bottom just for us to click on.

Although as I've also failed there is no point listening to me :D

I must admit on a couple of occasions, some background sounds were so quiet that I wasn't sure whether to put a code in or not. There was one case where just before the woman spoke, there was a very faint 'ping'' noise right at the beginning. I wasn't sure whether to tag this or not, but after listening to it a couple of times, I did actually insert the non speech code - perhaps I failed on that one because I inserted that code as the noise was not very loud. Anyway, there are only 10 questions, and if possible, it would have been nice to have got feedback from Neevo as to why I failed.

Yes feedback would be nice, I also struggled with the background noises, or the ones when there was a long silence, and then something was said.

I only did the test once so have another go but don't think there is much point, without knowing what I did wrong, I can't correct it.

I’ve only been pressing the buttons to insert the background noise codes etc if the noise is around the same volume or higher than the person talking, or if I can clearly hear it. I haven’t been putting anything for gaps with no speaking. I’m not saying that’s correct, but I passed the entry tests with full marks and haven’t had any problems.

I think they are strict on using the cutoff button if a word at the beginning or end is cut off, and remember to type numbers out as words, and okay not OK. Don’t forget the Ummm buttons. It’s very easy to miss the umms as they aren’t important. On the task where we had to say if the transcriptions were correct or not there were loads with punctuation, OK’s, numbers etc so those are probably common mistakes.

Did anyone get paid for those long $3 per task ones? It seems like a long time ago now.

Maybe that is why I failed - that when some noises were really faint, I was putting in a code?

When you say cutoff - I assumed that it would be an actual word on the screen that had part of it missing - say on the end of the line, it should say 'money', but only the letters 'mon' were showing - then I would put in a cut off tag. However, have I got this write - there was one instance where the spoken text ended the sentence with the word 'please', however, what I was looking at on the screen had the word 'please' left out - so, I was then typing it in to correct it. Because that word on the screen was missing, should I have used the cutoff tag instead of typing the word in? (Meaning that even though the word 'please' was spoken on the audio, it had been cut out of the text on the screen). Are you able to tell me which would have been correct - a cut off tag for this, or, just to type the missing word in? Thank you.

Passed at the 2nd attempt, thanks for this, it helped.

You just click on the tags at the bottom for vocal noise or cut off, you don't have to type it in

A lot of them were actually hard work. Some really long audio and a lot of editing required. The pay should have been upped a long time ago in my opinion.

I tried doing the test for this task this morning but failed it twice, so not accepted for this one. Can you tell me, I realise that small typos are acceptable, but for this test, several sentences had complete words missing (none cut in half) and/or the wrong words were used in the text. I actually corrected all of these errors (removed/added the wrong/left out words and typed in the right words so that the text matched the audio) - was I actually supposed to have done this, as on the instructions it does not mention this?

Also, when inserting the correct tag, I just clicked on the list at the bottom, for instance, Vocal Noise - no actual tags like this - [v_n/] were inserted (only the words Vocal Noise). Was I supposed to have typed the words Vocal Noise in like this - [v_n/]? Sorry, to bother you, but I know that you have been doing these as well. Thank you.

Yes you’re meant to correct all of the text, so it matches whatever you hear.

And you just click the tags to add the tags, you don’t write [v_n/] you just click Vocal Noise and it adds it for you.

I find this one quite easy to be honest. If I don’t understand what they say I just write what I can make out and put Unintelligible for the words I can’t understand.

Use cutoff tag when only half of the word is heard on the recording. You were correct to type in “please” in your example. If any words are missing from the text box that is in the recording, add them in. With the money example, if you can only hear “mon” then the recording stops, I would have typed mon-(cutoff tag). So the part of the word that you hear, a hyphen then the cutoff tag. If the cutoff word is at the beginning of the recording I would use the cutoff tag first, then a hyphen, then the part of the word I could hear. Again, I’m not 100% sure this is right but that’s what I’ve been doing.

Hope that makes sense.

That’s exactly what happens with these kinds of projects and you can never fully rely on them.
How’d you mean? Do you mean it looks like the task is coming to an end? Or that all of the tasks end eventually (which obviously I know lol).
