I have just set up a couple of Squidoo accounts to complement my websites. It's basically a free blogging platform where you can add links to other sites (including your own) and recommend products (you get 50% of the commissions earned by Squidoo I think). Might be worth a look for those that would like to get into paid blogging, but are intimidated by the thought of creating their own websites. The interface is pretty easy to understand once you have had a good look around.

The aim is to generate a little extra traffic using posts containing keywords that I can't use on my site. Many will be keywords that are too similar to those already used on my site and others will be keywords that I have used but for some reason failed to get ranked as expected. You can also earn a little extra money by sharing in the site owner's commissions from ads on your pages.

I have no idea if this will work and I know that the heyday of Squidoo is probably gone now since lots of people's content got "unpublished" due to it being too spammy and lacking in valuable content. Someone suggested to me that it is still useful if you play the game properly, so I will give it a go and see. Since it is free to use, the only cost is a little time and effort.

Does anyone else have any experience of Squidoo to share?

Absolutely zero experience in using it to earn any money but after looking around it seems like a good platform to upload your content to and I suppose point people towards your main sites.

As long as Squidoo is well ranked (which I am sure it is) It can't help at all with any back links that you put there.

Wonder how different it is to say something like Blogger which is a similar platform, or even the Wordpress one.

Squidoo is owned by Google so it ought to rank well. I think that is why so many people took advantage of the platform and they had a purge recently to strip out the spam and anything related to things like "money making", "dieting", "medicines" etc.

We'll see.
Published my first Lens today - will see if it gets ranked. Takes 24 hours to get approved.

Did you ever get anything through Squidoo?

Just curious - I published a page, more to give me a little practice than trying to get a monetized site but still curious to see how you got on with yours, been a couple of months now.

No, I decided to just keep the content on my own site instead. I don't need any more distractions.
