So after asking where I can post recipes online, I've decided to start a food blog.

I'm going to be focusing on thrifty meals and ways to save money on food. As that's something I've become quite good at.

I'm thinking of using the name amysthriftyeats.co.uk - and wonder if you think that's a good name for the blog?

Thanks

the shorter (and easier) a domain is to remember the better in my mind

[member=920]katykicker[/member] not sure if you use wordpress but I know you have a blog.

I've set up a blog and I'm in the middle of writing a post and wanted to add a photo. It won't let me add one, the button insert into post won't work. Am I doing something stupid? Would appreciate your help or anyone else's help.

Thanks,
Amy

Do you have an add media button?
If so, you'll need to upload your photo there [member=218]amyjay[/member] xx

[member=920]katykicker[/member] I managed to get it working. I had it in the add media but the button to post it wouldn't work. I managed to click that button by tabbing across to it.

I have just discovered that I can't click anything in the bottom right of my screen, which is why the button previously wasn't working. Currently working out how to fix it now lol

Thankfully turning my laptop off and on again has fixed it - I have wasted a bunch of time though trying to work out why my pictures weren't working - at least I know for if it happens again

I think definitely keep the domain short and easy to remember! :)

I'm also thinking about starting a blog, mainly focused on design. I have no idea about what name to use. Anything I come up with just sounds lame! Any suggestions? (Just to get the ball rolling and creative juices flowing) :)

Maybe see if you can incorporate your name and what you do.

Failing that your own name, or a nickname, can be good.

Hi [member=5567]tom453[/member] you should really write about something you know about.

For me I started writing about money making online and I have progressed to money saving, money making, parenting and my lifestyle in general. All things I know about well. If you don't like things and you don't enjoy writing about them it will probably translate as such in your blog.

I really like the name, regardless on whether or not you drop the amy in front or not.

Good luck with the blog, good thing with recipe type blogs is it's evergreen content (always relevant) and you don't need to post daily, I mean that in the sense if you want to take a break you can. Unlike say with a viral news blog.

Really hope it works out for you, if you need a logo designer at any point or banners or graphics drop me a message.

This is SO true. Every single weekend I see a big spike in traffic, and it is people looking up how to make roast potatoes!

I only got set up last week and the biggest hurdle turned out to be getting a variant of my site title that was actually available. I wanted the .co.uk and .com to be free and bought both, which was a little more limiting but will be worth it in the long run. I ended up just changing the word digital to virtual and managed to get going!

I agree about writing about what you know is the way forward. That is what I am doing and just started a blog for women over 50 - I aim to cover all topics that affect ladies of a certain age....my blog is www.overthehillandundertheradar.com The title says it all. It took me a long while to think of something catchy and different. Mind you setting up the blog has been trial and error but am getting there. Still plenty of tweeks to finalise though. Even getting a few views over the last couple of days and a comment today. This all means I am going in the right direction. Good luck in your new blog. 8)
