StumbleUpon can be amazing for bloggers and you can see your traffic skyrocket within seconds of a blog post being shared. The only problem is that you need to find the right balance of your posts and liking other people's posts - it's a bit like Facebook in the fact you're not going to get anywhere if all you do is post your own stuff. You need to get involved.

The algorithm doesn't like it at all when you stumble too many posts from the same domain - it doesn't like self promotion. If it thinks you are, it will ghost your account (hide it). Stumbling every post you write, or every one from someone else's blog will do far more harm than good.

What is useful is becoming a Stumbler with "authority". The best way to do that is by having followers on the platform and making sure you actually Stumble a lot on the website and start liking other pages.

Rules of participation

  • Post number 2 of this thread will be a list of Stumblers, I will keep this post updated as new people join and post their StumbleUpon profile link. Go follow them ALL. They will then follow you - helping to increase your "authority".
  • Post any posts you would like to be stumbled. Don't forget though, that too many posts from the same domain isn't good for the other Stumblers which in turn isn't good for you. I suggest posts that you REALLY want to be seen such as sponsored posts, reviews, charity posts - I'm not saying that's all you should request to be Stumbled though (for those who don't do these in their blog).
  • When you Stumble another TMS member pop a like on their post here just so people know what posts have and haven't been Stumbled.

If you want to take part then leave your StumbleUpon address and I'll add it to the list - don't forget to follow other people on the list because they'll be able to see if you haven't and reserve the right to not bother sharing anything you post.

A few more tips:

People who use StumbleUpon do not like being advertised to. Be very careful what you decide to have stumbled, because people can dislike your pages and sink you as quickly as they will like them.

Posts that do well on StumbleUpon: Informative, artistic, visual, lists, anything to do with photography, nature, animals, hacks, science, parenting, recipes, so on and so forth.
Things that don't do well on StumbleUpon and will get you sunk: Adverts, overly affiliated reviews or anything with lots of affiliate links in, sign ups, social profiles etc. etc. If you post anything like that you will be commiting account suicide. You'll get negged into oblivion.

I'll kick things off with one of my own posts: https://virtualwombat.com/photography/tunisia-photo-blog/

Have fun with it and don't forget to use the website, stumble lots, like other pages you find interesting, it'll propel you forward!

One final thing, it's useful to have a share button for StumbleUpon on your posts as I do on my blog. That way, you can hopefully start getting your posts stumbled organically and your reach will grow on its own.

Thanks [member=277]Chammy[/member] and [member=665]VirtualWombat[/member] for setting up this StumbleUpon group and for the great advice, it's very much appreciated! :)

I'm still getting to grips with it all but I've Stumbled at least one existing post from everyone on the list to help make a start whilst trying not to go overboard and getting my account 'ghosted'.

Good luck everyone with your Stumbling! ;D

Okay, how about kicking off with this post I did a few days ago for World Cancer Day? I know [member=665]VirtualWombat[/member] has Stumbled it already (many thanks again!), but any more will be much appreciated. I would love to see this post reach a wide audience, as I hope it will raise awareness of prostate cancer and help dispel some myths about it.

I'm currently trying to get my business blog off the ground so would appreciate any likes so much - I think this is my most stumble friendly post so far https://foreverwithkirsty.wordpress.com/2017/02/02/my-muscle-food-order/ My stumble link is http://www.stumbleupon.com/stumbler/kirstyo I used to use stumbleupon quite a bit but thought it had died off till recently so I have only just started using it again. it doesn't look like it has changed much.

I will go through and add everyone on this thread so far then I will be offline for a while but will come back to check it out later, I think this is a fabulous idea by the way. I remember when we did this on a site I used to write on years ago it worked very well for most of us.
