Hello
Ive submitted my site map to google and want to submit it to bing and yahoo. So Ive opened the yoast seo tool - it has 'submit bing verification code' then a link to obtain said code.

All good so far. But on bings submission page I have to verify ownership by

  1. Download BingSiteAuth.xml
  2. Upload the file to https://ownahotel.co.uk/BingSiteAuth.xml
  3. Confirm successful upload by visiting https://ownahotel.co.uk/BingSiteAuth.xml in your browser
  4. Click the verify button below
Ive downloaded the xml file but cant upload it to yoast as that seems to be just a box to paste a code, not a file. So if I do it via bypassing yoast and follow point 2 - 'upload the file' , how do I do that on WP dashboard
Thanks

to upload the file you can either FTP into your hosting or you can go into Cpanel > File Manager and upload the file that way

I hadnt selected a file to upload it to. After reading your post I uploaded it to public_html. Looked at file contents and it was there in the list next to my google file. Went back to bing to click the link to confirm upload and it leads to this message
This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

The file seems slightly different to the google one as under 'type' it says 'text/x-generic' whereas the google one is type text/html

The file is what it is if it’s coming from bing.

I don’t think I’ve even submitted my sitemap to them yet they have my website as obviously someone else they list has linked to me and their slider went crawling

You can open up the xml file as a word document and copy paste the code.
