Yes that's how surveys work. There are some higher paying ones like Populus live or New Vista but surveys aren't frequent.

I find that average timings are not always accurate. Some sites will always give generous amounts of time. They will say a survey will take 15 minutes, and I'll finish it in 6, others will underestimate to a ridiculous amount and I'll still be there half hour later. You get to know after a while which is which.
I also open several surveys in tabs. (but not from the same company) That way, while one page is loading, I can switch to another. Obviously if one needs more concentration, then I'll stick with it rather than flitting.
This way I'm earning more than £5 an hour, which is a more realistic wage while sitting on my sofa, watching Christmas films on Netflix ;)

It's all about being selective. I generally only use Prolific these days as I find the 'average completion time' to usually be quite accurate and if it works out that the pay is really poor I won't bother!

I also agree with [member=224]Topaz[/member] too - if it's something you can do absentmindedly while you are relaxing/watching TV and it doesn't really change the course of your day then why not earn a few quid doing a couple of surveys.

That's how I feel about apps like OnePulse and Citizen Me too - you can crack those out with just seconds to spare and before you know it you have a tenner to withdraw!

I find that I can open several surveys from different sites at once, work through them 5-10 questions at a time and I can make much more than £2 per hour. Also, there are some great paying survey sites or some surveys with lower paid surveys that are really fast to complete.

I have wrote a Survey Bible for The Money Shed with LOTS of different websites listed You can find out more here: http://blog.themoneyshed.co.uk/survey-bible-maximise-online-survey-earnings/

Have to agree with that sentiment. I signed up for a load of survey panels and soon realised that most are so poorly paid that my time is best spent doing something else like sticking unwanted stuff on eBay. I'll probably whittle them down to 3 panels that pay OK and don't spam continuously with emails of surveys you then get disqualified from (I'm talking about you, GlobalTestMarket).

So far Prolific is my best payer.

GlobalTestMarket screen out constantly! Very annoying when you answer 10 odd questions before it happens....Anyone ever won the prize draw they love to give entries to?

I just did a quick bit of maths using my GlobalTestMarket history and it turns out that my current pay rate on that when you factor in being screened out so much (29 times out of 42), the pay rate is approximately £1.56 an hour.

In 47 minutes I completed survey I received 6 screen outs. I made £5.72 of points (207) from completed studies. I also did £7 on PopulusLive, £1.50 on YouGov, got a few DQs on MintVine, searched on Swagbucks and did a few other small bits...

Everyone gets different surveys, and each survey wants different criteria. You're never going to get rich quick with surveys, but if you can get into a good routine there is some money to make.

I save my surveys up for a few days, delete the lowest paying ones, open several at a time and I use keyboard shortcuts to help me. I open X amount of studies (one from each of my different sites) then i just work through doing a few questions on each tab, then using my keyboard shortcuts to move to the next one. If I have to wait for a video to load etc then I move on to the next tab.

It has taken me some time to get into this routine where I can complete quite so many so fast. Also, I have a feeling about some that ALWAYS disqualify after asking questions and if I see those ones I just close them and take the risk that I might miss out on those points/that money.

I think the best thing you can do is just stick to the highest paying surveys if you don't like the rate of pay :) I used to earn really low money but I've just got faster, more in tune with where the test questions are and can zip through most surveys. I'm sure there are other people here too who are doing the same :)

Yep I'm a survey zipper too. Did get a bit miffed when I was pulled up for speeding last week. I was doing 4 surveys at once at the time, so if I had been doing just that one, I would have been even faster. Maybe I should open the tabs, wander off, do some comps and come back to them in half hour, then zip through them - providing that they haven't timed out ;)

Thanks for all your advice katykicker. Although I enjoy the prolific surveys all the others just send me to sleep.
Will give the zipping method a go.

If you try the zipping method, make sure that you don't open tabs from the same company, or sister company at the same time. It completely confuses their systems, and you either get an error page on completion, or it tries to give the incentive to the wrong company and usually fails. For example, Global test market and MySurvey are run by the same company. Any of the myriad of Cint panels will 'crossover' if you try to do more than one at a time too.
