I always G+, Tweet, Pin & FB my blog posts.
This drives a little traffic to my sites and doesn't take very long to do.

I am interested in using a couple of mini-blog sites (if that's the correct term) to drive more traffic.

Ideally, they would be easy-to-use popular sites where people actively search for things. I would also like the ability to rank posts when I can be bothered to write enough words.

Squidoo is a bit too complicated (I hated the platform) and their reputation has taken a bit hit.

I have just started to use Tumblr - love the simple and attractive platform and the mobile app is great too.

What do you think about Tumblr?
Are there any better options?

I have never thought about using mini blog sites! I always use social media to promote my posts alhough I don't always remember to do all of them. I also use sites like Stumbleupon to promote although I have to make sure I stumble other peoples posts as well!

I am intrigued to see how this would work, not a big fan of Tumblr over here

I view social media as a "necessary evil" - I know that some people just love it, but I was a very late arrival to the Twitter/Facebook party and I sometimes wish that they didn't exist. For my KSF site, I am not sure how important FB & Twitter are going to be since I am not writing a "lifestyle" blog that is likely to attract a cult following. The people that are likely to "like" my FB page and follow me on Twitter as most unlikely to ever actually buy stuff that I review. I find that I get a slightly higher quality of visitor from G+ and Pinterest. One of the biggest problems with Twitter is that your content just doesn't "stick" for very long.

I am still experimenting with Tumblr - I like the simplicity of it, but not sure if it's going to bring any traffic. I will monitor the analytics to see.

I would certainly never use Tumblr or any other mini-blog site to write long original posts - they are much better off on your own website. The main reason that I was thinking of using mini-blog sites is that one of my affiliate merchants often releases big discount codes that last between a few days and a week. In those circumstances, writing a blog post and hoping to get in ranked for traffic before the offer expires is unrealistic at my stage. Twitter is generally not where people go to look for this stuff and the tweets have a minuscule shelf-life. I have a couple of blog posts that I just updated when the new codes arrived, but I was hoping to find somewhere in addition to the search engines that people actually use to look for stuff that they're interested in rather than just taking part in some sort of pointless "like exchange programme".

I will let you know how I get on.

I haven't tried stumble upon - is it any good?

Stumble upon is fab! I don't necessarily get TONS of views on days I remember to stumble but a substantial amount nonetheless. I agree that Twitter is a fast moving form of social media however I particularly like the pin tweet option now - I generally pin my latest blog post to the top for people to see :)

Thanks.
Before I start Stumbling, do you have a single account with lots of sub-accounts or separate account for each blog?
Or just sign up with FB account?
