The Chat Shop: Anyone ever worked with them?

Hi all!

My other half has been looking at earning money from home. A job came up on Indeed with The Chat Shop. It's basically live chat agent work from home, working with holiday sites, insurance etc. He has an interview with them in a few days.

They pay minimum wage which he's fine with atm, so it's not a "get rich quick" scheme.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with them. It sounds a little too good to be true imo: A legit full time, waged working from home job isn't something you find every day.

Maybe I'm being over cautious?

No I've not heard of them but I've taken a look and I don't feel like I'm missing any alarm bells or anything

do you have a link to their job posting on Indeed?

Yeah they do look legit don't they? Maybe I'm worrying over nothing.

This isn't the exact listing but similar.

Does it say self employed on the job he's applying for as well?

It does, yes. He's okay with self employment though. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be completely commission based (even though the ad doesn't mention that at all).

[member=3499]SheldonCooper[/member] - how did the interview go? I've been looking into this myself.

Also, did he have to go anywhere to do the interview or was it done over the phone or computer?

I've been looking at this too, and the only "difficulty" I can find with it is that many people will struggle to get their WPM up to the requirement.

I'd like to hear further info though, about how the interview went, and if anyone has any experience working for them.

Hi @Petlamb . I totally forgot about this post!

Ok here's a quick update about the interview.

He was interviewed in a text chat with an anonymous interviewer. At no time in the process did he know who he was speaking with. It was all very impersonal which made him feel a bit off, even though the interview was straight forward.

He would ask questions or make statements that were blanked. We think it was probably a bot interviewing him :D

They asked questions about his personality, about his work environment at home and about the tech he would be using.

He didn't pass the interview and we have no idea why as he seemed to meet the requirements. When he asked for feedback he was ignored too. They could have been busy though :/ Very strange.

I hope they got some feedback in the end. It sucks no matter if the job is an online one or one in the offline world when you get rejected for a job and don't get any feedback so you know where to improve!

Hmm, a bit strange and disappointing. May well still give it a punt, though considering other work from home options too.

I'm extremely late to this, my apologies, but I had a run in with them earlier.

I was required to take a typing test, in which I got 109 WPM at 99% accuracy as you can see here:Typing99%.png

They wouldn't accept me because they required me to be available between Monday - Sunday 6am-9pm. I said I can work upwards of 40 hours/week from Wednesday through to Sunday.

It's a shame, my interaction with them via email was good, they seem like a good company, I just thought that even with me being able to work 40+ hours and not being accepted was strange. I do think a part of this was that in the application they mention a training scheme that could've been on a Monday or a Tuesday.

Anyway, sorry that I'm so late, I just stumbled upon this on Google and thought I'd add my two cents.
