Excuse my train of thought here but I'm looking for a bit of reassurance.

I'm a writer and artist, and a lot of my work involves using design/illustration technology. I've been doing this for the last few years, on a computer that is almost a decade old and with programs that are, shall we say, a little bit of a Del Boy special, because I'm skint, and have been for a long time. My machine is working at max capacity, and so am I.

Now, I really would love to buy a top of the range computer. Not even top of the range, maybe like mid-to-top table, but just something I can actually offer a better standard of work on and also be able to buy the programs I need and run them on a legit basis. I've been tormenting myself with this for the last few years but I feel like the time has come to make it happen.

Can I realistically do this? Is it possible to set myself a target of like, a thousand pounds and actually achieve it? I need to buy my dream machine to be able to keep working. But HOW do I realistically get there? Can it be done?

I'd love to know if any of you have actually done this - can you give me any advice?

I assume with this dream machine comes the ability for you to earn yet more money as you will be able to do a lot more. It will also be an expense when it comes to doing your tax return!

But yes, £1000, no problem at all

Have you started using the likes of bemyeye, Roamler etc?

I hadn't even thought about that! It being an expense on the tax - that's if I achieve my goal this year of earning enough to actually pay tax lol

Ok sod it, I'll go for it.

Nooo not yet, I'll look at those now though :):)

But yeah the plan is to be able to do more work and stop blagging it as I have been for the past few years. I need to get serious about it.
