Soooooooo....... who are you voting for?

I'm still undecided. I've always been a Labour supporter but I just don't know if I can vote for them at this election. Milliband is such as goon and their politics are so reactionary and a little bit desperate. The Conservatives seem to be the same as ever (but at least Cameron has a bit more about him than Milliband). UKIP have some what are on the face of it some quite logical, common sense policies, but they seem to have too many loony right wingers and I don't know if I would trust them with the NHS. And the Lib Dems? Wasted vote, they're going to get hammered this election.

I've always been a conservative voter, I just don't know now :( Far too many nutters in UKIP for my liking and no-one else seems to have as many of the values that I want from a party.

I did a quiz the last two elections about who you most side with on policies and the differences between Conservatives > Labour > Lib Dems was only marginal!

I'm going to be voting for Lib Dems. I do agree that they are likely to be destroyed this year but they're the only party I relate to. Voting for any other party would be a wasted vote for me. I watched the televised debate between all the leaders and Nigel Farage's performance was such a joke. :/

Lib Dem - I think they have done a good job in coalition and have made a real difference to me as they have increased the personal income tax allowance. Anyone like me who works part time for themselves is better off as you now don't pay tax on the first £11k.

But more importantly, in my constituency the Lib Dems are the only people who have a hope of beating the SNP. I hate the SNP with every bone in my body and would vote UKIP, Green or Monster Raving Loony if I thought it would keep the hideous being that is Sturgeon, her equally noxious sidekick Mr Salmond and the rest of them out of parliament. They want to destroy my country and I loathe them for it.

Is being an MP not a proper job?

Same could be said for people like Ed Balls, Ed Milliband, Yvette Cooper, Douglas Alexander etc etc etc who have all, since graduating, worked as policy researchers or parliamentary aides before being elected as an MP.

I think you could say that about any party. Isn't Farage hamming up his allowance over the EU and getting every penny he can? :)

in terms of the leaders, they really are all as bad as each other with the false promises and spin. Cameron is out of touch with real life, Milliband has no personality, Farage reminds me of a slightly deranged dodgy used car salesman and Clegg... I forgot he was even the leader of a political party. Everyone else hasnt really got a look in so its a choice of a fantasist, a drip, a nutcase or a shadow in the background.... great....

Right, my real reply.

I think the Conservatives will be staying in power with another hung parliament.

I will be voting UKIP for my local area because

a) I want labour out, I am under Rotherham council so need I say more?
b) The ONLY party around here capable of taking their seats away is UKIP. Conservatives do not stand a chance (miners town), neither do Lib or Green so rather than wasting a vote on them I'll use mine to give it to the party with the best chance of getting rid of Labour.

Labour for me as the biggest issues affecting our household are wages not keeping pace with the cost of living and lack of affordable housing. Labour say they will raise the minimum wage to £8 which would make a difference and build more affordablehousing which will also make a difference. The tTUC actually say the minimum wage should be nearer to £10 and the greens agree with them but voting green would be a wasted vote round here and anyway I don't entirely trust them, like the lib dems they have some brilliant policies but then they start throwing in really wacky stuff like legalising all drugs or getting rid of the monarchy and youthink, hmm, im not so sure aabout that! Plus they are both parties of the middle classes at heart, labour is the only mainstream political party in the uk with a solid history of supporting the interests of the working class. Personally I don't care really as long as we kick the Tories out and keep the kippers out. I'd be happy to see a labour/lib dem/green/SNP/plaid cymru/any of them type coalition.

Thinking ahead to the future if the Tories get back in England and the SNP get in Scotland and Scotland goes independent - I don't want it to, but if that were to happen - then we will seriously be looking to move there!

I will be surprised if that does happen to be honest. From what I gather most of Scotland hates her and do not want her in power. I've seen more English people want to be able to vote for SNP than Scottish.

Couple of quotes after the debate from a friend's friends in Scotland "that leaders' debate was useless - the other parties needed to attack her but didn't. She was nipping away as usual but nothing had any substance. She was not challenged by anyone." and "I know I'm hoping that the Scottish one is better but the problem is the English now don't think she that bad. Her PR company deserve every penny of their hefty bill!!!".

Minimum wage is always a tough one because yes on the one hand it would be good to pay people more and get more money flowing round the economy, but putting it up to £8 or even £10 would probably see lots of small to medium size business' have to lay off staff or even go out of business. It's a tough balancing act to get it right.

The issue is more about the likes of next, boots, asda and so on who generate billions in profits but still refuse to pay their workers a living wage. They need to be made to. I'm sure if the government wanted to it could also bring in subsidies for small businesses to enable them to pay a living wage if they could prove they really couldn't afford to pay it

But then you have to consider the companies who do pay above minimum wage already who would need to increase their employees wages by a lot in one go to keep it in line or lose their staff because they "might as well be working at Next". Like my husband, his job comes with hazzards including death which I am pretty sure he wouldn't want to do if he is only on a few more ££ than a 17 year old high school drop out who is waiting in a cafe or cleaning a few offices for not much less.

Police Officers, Firemen, Engineers, Nurses, Teachers....they would all need a rise otherwise what is the point in studying or training for a job that leaves you not much better off than someone who couldn't even be bothered to finish school (I know that is an extreme example).

Staggered increases or shunting up the threshold every year is fair enough but such a big rise is costly.

With just the normal minimum wage rises, I know people who are shop supervisors or team leaders in their office and they are literally now only on a few pence more per hour than the people who work below them.
