Hello everyone,

I am a mum on a mission. I have 4 bundles of joy ranging from 4 to 15 and when i say joy I really mean it. They are what keeps me focused and stop me from that downward spiral when things go a little wonky. Wonky happens from time to time but on the whole life is pretty good, happy and a little bit bonkers.

We as a family have had good times and a few years a go the bad times struck. Didn't see it coming and my god did it hit us hard. Having said that we now appreciate 'stuff' a lot more than we did before and I have to say it has on the whole has done us a favour. We are a strong family and you don't need to be spending heaps of money to have a good time.

A upward turning point for us also came along last May when we met someone who introduced us to Utility Warehouse. We became distributors and this allows me to work from home and fit 'work' around the kids. At first it was about just making 50 quid a month. 50 quid can make such a difference when things are pants. Its gone way beyond 50 quid a month and it has made such a difference to us already. Not only in terms of an extra bit of money but in terms of building my confidence again in talking to people. My confidence has grown and so has my friendship group as a result.

This mum is on a mission to get the best out of life without parting with too much money.

I don't wanna go back to working in the 'real world' I am happy working from home as and when I can. All in the comfort of my own home (or someone else's) ;)

Hiya! - Welcome to the forum - Great to have you onboard

It is scary when something comes out of the blue and can create a change in circumstances for you that you never wanted in the first place.

Hi Ladies and Gents,

My name is Shelley, I live in Wiltshire, am a mum and stepmum, and work as a Virtual Assistant.

I started by signing up to a website called peopleperhour, and knew I enjoyed writing, about anything and everything! So I started applyingfor writing jobs. After much rejection and perseverance I was awarded my first job, which then turned into writing 15 to 25 articles per week.
After building up my reputation (and still being rejected. A lot!) I just kept applying for as many jobs as possible, and then landed a VA role. I work 2 to 6 hours a day, it fits around my children, partner (and the dreaded housework!) and gives me the flexibility to juggle everything and earn a decent wage.

If anyone would like any help getting into something similar, please feel free to message me. It has been hard and I have worked hard to be in the position I am now, but its worth it!

Welcome Simon. Like your thinking. You may like to have a look at Network Marketing, work it when your working around your window cleaning and when you are unable to work. Most networking business have websites so can work online and off line. :)

Hello - just a quick message to introduce myself as I've just registered - I'm an Area Manager with The Body Shop at Home, having worked for the Company for the last 9 years and I'm also a Phoenix Trader in my 'spare' time. I absolutely love the flexibility of both jobs, they fit in perfectly around my very hectic life with 2 girls and a husband who works away from home a lot of the time.

Hi, I'm Tricia. I'm 48 (as of a week ago ;) ), and I live in Hampshire. I have two grown up children, and 4 dogs, and 2 geckos. I was an avid worker until 'something' happened to my collar bones and now I am restricted in what I can and can't do.

A couple of years ago I discovered a text Q&A 'hobby', and mystery shopping. The Q&A texting died a death, but I still did the mystery shopping. Then I got a part time job which I have been doing for 10 months now, and has really messed up my day time routine!! ::) Now I do the odd mystery shop but am open to new suggestions for earning extra income. (If only Farmville 2 and Hay Day paid you to play them!! ;D )

I think there may be some people on here whom I already know, like Jon, but I have yet to read all the posts. I look forward to getting to know everyone else on here too.

Hi Tricia,
Welcome to The Money Shed. Jon has created one of the friendliest forums I have ever come across. I am sure you pick up tips and ideas.
Myself, I work from home as a Phoenix Trader. I guess it helped because I love receiving and sending cards, I also love gift paper. The range of cards and gift paper from Phoenix Trading is unique and rather quirky designs, the likes of which I gave never seen in the shops.
Have a lovely day. XX :)

Hello I'm Miriam - I've been doing online earning for about 10 years, some years more successfully than others and obviously have seen many earning opportunities come and go...

Struggling at the moment and looking for inspiration... Found this site through a link on the green site and whilst I like the green site I find some of its members can be quite nasty - had a few nasty comments over the years so dont contribute as much as I used to.

Looking forward to sharing ideas ;D

Welcome Miriam. I am sure you will find this forum a lot more friendly. I too have experienced some nasty comments from other forums from narrow minded individuals.

Take a look around and pick up some ideas.

Hello and WELCOME ;)

Happy to have you over here - If you have been on the green site for a while I bet you will have some great contributions to add and I bet people will be hitting that 'applause' button you see by your username a lot for the info you give them.

PS. You aren't the first person to come over from the green site who has PM'd me their views on how hostile members act over there, sure you won't be the last ;)

Hi everyone

My name is Hayley and I've recently come across this great forum. I've been reading the earning extra money section with interest as I've tried a number of ways to make extra money in the past, some of which have failed but also some which have been nice little earners too.

I have a small business working from home as a Childminder and also run a personal finance blog which is starting to make a little money now through Google Adsense. I'm also getting more work as a freelance writer and this is really the direction I want to go in. I have a young daughter aged three and she's my reason for wanting to work flexibly!

Looking forward to reading more and contributing!

Hayley :)

Don't let them spoil our fun Jon - they don't have a monopoly ::)

In fact some of their main campaigning messages are rallying against monopolies eg the energy suppliers. I'm not really sure why they're getting their knickers in a twist about The Shed ???

Nothing worth losing sleep over - there's plenty of room on the interweb for everybody
