rumours of 4k PS4 coming...

http://metro.co.uk/2016/03/29/playstation-4k-console-to-be-revealed-by-october-says-wall-street-journal-5781752/?_sm_au_=iMV0tjfcbScZ2KWD#mv-b

makes getting my 4k tv at Christmas more of a relevant investment!

I'm "that guy" that won't pay the extra for Sky HD because I can't tell the difference (seriously, I can't tell the difference), I'm not sure I care about 4k, my 6 year old 1080p TV will keep me going for a long time yet. Oh, and I can't even see 3d using a 3d tv, or at the Cinema (something to do with stereo vision issues).

I tell you what, you'd tell the difference on my TV. SD signal is Pap! I've had to get another arial cable as I'm struggling to receive a strong HD signal. 3d was a gimmick and I'm sure a curved screen is a gimmick but I don't even notice the curve so I'm not worried about it. Its also 55" so Mooooooosive!

Well, we only have 1 tv and only use Sky so comparing Sky's SD vs HD streams I can't tell the difference. I can tell the difference between a terribly encoded video and a well encoded video but that is less resolution and more quality.

Hi Guys

I saw a TV program a while ago about a young guy from blackpool, who plays video games tournaments for money, has anybody tried this??

I've looked into this a bit. To be a pro gamer, you have to be exceptionally good and somewhat obsessive. If you're not playing 16 hours a day 7 days a week, you'll never break in to the money seats.

Another thing I've looked at that might be more realistic is Magic: The Gathering. Apparently there are a lot of local tournaments where you can win a bit, and if you can make it to the pro tour there's big money out there.

But then you're into a game of skill with an element of chance and I've probably got as much chance of being good enough at that as I do of being good enough at poker, and if you're going to learn one game well enough to be in the money, poker has a lot more money to offer.

If you've got the skill though, go for it, looks like a good lifestyle. Free trips to USA, Japan and other places and being paid to play, sounds good to me.

MTG is very unrealistic, only the top few players in the world earn enough to be worth it. You have to spend a lot of money on cards just to be competitive. Some people will earn money playing video games all day (tournaments or Twitch streamers) but it's very unlikely and you need to be really lucky.

[member=928]askgar[/member] I agree, there's a lot of competition and you need a lot of both ability and determination.

I think making money of any game - whether it's video games, MTG, poker, football or whatever - is a lovely dream, but unless you're lucky enough to have an exceptional talent and the time and money needed to develop it, it's realistically just a dream.

That being said, I fancy giving MTG a go just for the game, if tournaments are possible, that's a bonus.

It's E3 week and EA were SHIT!!

Too much time spent on sports games and not enough on the good stuff - I mean seriously, that was all they had for Star Wars?

All that told us was how many people at EA like Star Wars - there was no information about any of it that is coming up...

Bethesda's showcase though, now that was good and it looks like my subscription that I'm saving by no longer playing WoW is going straight back to ESO.

I've not played the BF games.

I have got COD:IW on pre-order so have been enjoying the BETA access. Terminal wasn't as good a map as I remember.

Yesterday my PS4 assulted me. If fell out my bag and I tried to catch it on my leg - all those angles are great of carving huge chunks out of your leg. it then hit the floor anyway. I've not plugged it back in yet to check it works as I'm too scared!

I am planning on getting the PS4 pro when it is released.

I'm saving my pennies (after the move) for a Switch ;) That machine looks fantabby!

I've owned the last couple of Nintendo machines and they just didn't get played. Maybe once every couple of months when people came round, but for 'proper' gaming it was never able to replace/compete with my PS3 then PS4. I do a lot of commuting but I've found that my phone got played more than my PSP Vita and so I sold my vita. Its a superior gaming machine but the screen just never felt big enough or good enough. Based on that I'm not sure I'd bother with the switch.

The Switch might be something I pick up 2nd hand when everyone sells them because they are pap!

My opinion is based on me not having kids, but if I did then I think a nintendo would be the best console for them :)

The more information that is leaked about the Switch the more my heart breaks :(

You're not kidding. That's why I felt I had to write about it. I really wanted this to be where Ninty got back on their feet but it's all starting to look a bit weak. The price gouging is becoming silly.
