On the resurrecting old threads topic, I've never seen another forum where this is acceptable, users seem to hunt in packs to troll you if you're a newbie or someone thats digging through the archives of old posts. I often search forums for information posted based on prior experiences and don't see the crime in bringing good threads back to life as a result.

I'm all the issues I have with maintaining a community - a user bringing back an old thread AND adding new content isn't one of them

There are other forums where they jump on you for starting a topic that's been discussed in the past - 'We already covered that in 1997 and the thread's on page 3752 - can't you read??' ::)

We are newbies - although, I (Rebecca), one half of the AaronRebecca553 duo, am the one who does most of the posting. We lurked for a while before we joined as we were trying to get ideas and understand how it all really works. Then we joined because 1) we felt we should say thanks when we use things people have suggested and for referrals that we used and 2) because we hopefully will now have something offer. We also done some seriously lurking on another forum and have yet to join. I think that speaks volumes about this site - we joined here because it felt a lot more personable. :) Just my 2 cents as a former lurker / eyeballer. :D

The Cull : Part 3!

Am having space issues again with TMS at the moment so am going to take a rusty lawnmower through the memberlist and have another round of deleting users who are not posting and are just lurking and thus don't actually need accounts on here.

Don't worry, common sense things like length a person has been a member vs how much they have posted will come into play the most..

The whole ethos of this site is sharing posts and ideas. If you are just taking information, going off and earning money but not contributing at all (even if its just posts about how you are getting on with stuff) then it sort of goes against what the site is about

Ladies and Gentlemen

Next week I will be starting the 3rd User Cull, this one will be much stricter than the others and will automatically be targeting 2 user groups who

'Have been a member for over 3 months and haven't posted but DO navigate the site'

or

'Have been a member for over 3 months, have a post history but barely post and DO navigate the site'

If you are a member who just lurks and doesn't post but DOES take information and participates in the opportunities but doesn't even post to say thankyou then it is you I am targeting.

A lot of people earn a LOT of money through this website and there's no reason to at the very least post saying thanks or letting others know how you are getting on.

If you don't want to do that then why go to the trouble to making an account on TMS anyway

Once your account is deleted you will also be banned from signing up again based on your IP address and signup email

Good for you. I agree. Why should people go to the trouble of posting things on here when you get other people who will take take take but not give owt back. I rarely post opportunities; in fact I never do, but I reply to people's posts and I have started posting competitions. It takes a few seconds to say thanks to someone

I agree completely... Even more so in terms of the MBing forum.... We post a fair few offers on there which quite often have instant profit

Great idea. Nice when people do interact and post rather than taking all the info from the site and then just not posting anything even just a thanks or to report back on how you are doing.

I think that's fair enough [member=1]Jon@TheMoneyShed[/member] . I hope I'm not gonna get culled! I really enjoy this site since I discovered it. It's nice to have a bit of interaction. I find I like to sometimes thank people and post replies, even if I haven't any opportunities to post. A bit of appreciation here and there doesn't go amiss. After all, I am steadily trying different things thanks to some great advice and links by yourself and plenty of others. I don't know anybody else who does any online or app moneymaking. Without you all I'd be little Billy no mates ;D

Do you not think the number of "useless" posts will increase if you make everyone post often? :-\
If someone posts about a new moneymaking opportunity I'm more interested in 3-5 useful posts which contribute more information than pages of "Thanks" "Good find". I thought that was one reason we had the option to like a post.

I understand you want to free up space though and this may be one of the only ways to do it..

this is less to do with 'freeing up space' and more to do with the working from home community as a whole.

People tend to only find other opportunities because of other people sharing them, then they gain money from that opportunity. If I said to you 'have £20 for doing this mystery shop at tesco near your house' you would say 'thanks' back.

Plus if people have gone to the effort of making an account on TMS and just leech the information and don't post then if I remove those users we as a community aren't missing anything as they don't post anything anyway
