I am sorry ScaryHair the Royal mail posting panel has just launched a new website and I can't find out how new people can sign up. They had a few teething problems but luckily they still managed to send out some Cadbury mini eggs to everyone. It has been quite a foody month so far as I have been photographing snacks for Street Bees and clicking on food ads for VYPR.

Mystery shopping has been going well. I have done several bank branch checks and a couple of telephone banking enquiries. I could have done more telephone tasks but after the first couple I was slowly loosing the will to live.

Prolific academic has also been busy as I think a lot of people must be boycotting the site after the revelations about Cambridge analytica It does not come as a big surprise to me. I never thought facebook was all about sharing baby photos and cat videos. It is obvious that it makes millions by being used by advertisers to target punters. Though judging by the adverts I get on my sidebar their profiling needs a bit more work. It has made me think about what apps I actually need for my phone and what permissions they need. I hope survey sites start to ask researchers a few more questions as well.

When I get paid for mystery shopping I will have hit my target for the month and I have a garden visit mystery shop booked for Tuesday. Just need fine weather.

I am pleased to report that I hit my target for March mainly due to mystery shopping. I am still surprised how little mystery shopping seems to involve going into actual shops. Next week I have a stately home visit and a train journey as well as one more traditional department store visit.

Still mystery shopping. I have just accepted a meal for two at a rather nice Bath pub. It makes a change from my previous job - no emptying bed pans. My daughter got back from Spain yesterday after three months teaching English in a bilingual school so I have an extra mouth to feed.

Money earning has been slow for the last couple of weeks. I have a few mystery shopping payments due so should hit my target for the month. In good news I have been asked to stay on the Royal Mail panel a bit longer this time as they have had problems with their new website and my bank checks will be back for a second wave. I hope they have improved their call centre after the feedback.

Populus live as been good this month and I have earnt about £10.00. I only need another £8.00 for pay out. If any one is not already a member of their panel I recommend it. They pay £1.00 per 5 minutes survey.

I will be spending some of my ill gotten gains as we are going off on a cruise round the U.K. leaving on Thursday from Avonmouth. I am signed up for the Sassie mystery shopping website so have been browsing jobs round the U.K. I won't be doing any though. It will be the first time I have been to any of the Scottish Islands. I am particularly looking forward to seeing Tobemory as my children grew up watching Balamory. We just need good weather.

Well I am back. We had a lovely time the weather was beautiful. My favourite places were Tobermory, Dunfermline and Ullaport. The cruise passengers were decidedly elderly. It was surprising how many seventy year olds seemed to have an elderly parent in tow. The eldest I met was 99. The entertainment reflected this with games of throw the bean bags and rock and roll evenings.
https://www.theplatinumline.blog/a-cruise-around-the-british-isles/ A few photos here.

When I came back I had a phone call from one of my son's to say that I have another grandchild on the way so money making will still be needed. DS4 is getting married on Saturday so I am looking forward to a family reunion.

All went well my son is now a married man and my grandson was particularly delighted with the doughnut cake. In a bit of money saving my daughter in law made her own bouquet.wedding cake.jpg

I get asked to mystery shop the strangest things. I had an E.mail today asking if I could mystery shop a charity fun run. Luckily participating is optional. The day job mystery shopping banks is still keeping me busy. Two more to do this week.

I have just had a £1.50 Amazon voucher bonus from Curious Cat for a survey about understanding the terms and conditions of fake websites. I am beginning to like the app particularly the Bagpuss clips to check your video and sound are working. brings back memories.

I have got off to a flying start in June with a £10.00 win from the May money making contest on here. I was very pleased so thank you Jon and delighted to report that I have already received it. I was also paid today for mystery shopping a mattress. Luckily it was only asking questions and taking photos not a purchase. Five more banks this week and an E.mail asking about disabled access at a railway station. My bank must think I am a very awkward customer, the number of phone calls I have made to the contact centre. These jobs need a voice recording of your impressions which is a new skill for me.

Seems like you're doing great with all the mystery shops!!

I always used to veer away from the bank related ones as they used to have some complex requirements!!

Sometimes bank jobs are very easy. Last year I had a couple which were just checking for a poster and some leaflets. You did not even have to talk to anyone or take a photo.

In other news I won £10.00 in the post office survey daily draw today. https://rmselfrecruit.research-int.com/Questionnaire/qstIntroductionPrivate.aspx. This seems to be the link for the new website. I make about £15.00 a month from them in stamps and love to shop vouchers.

Things seem to be going well on the mystery shop front. I discovered another nice local pub yesterday. My husband is happy to help me with these visits. I have also reclaimed some PPI insurance from 2000 I could not remember having. I had to borrow some money as I had three children at university at the same time. I only paid about £100 in PPI insurance but will get about £300 back with compensation and interest. The moral of the story is it pays to check.

In other news I am off to France next week. I belong to the French group of the local U3A and we have been offered an exchange with a similar group in Nantes. I did 2 years French at University but that was nearly fifty years ago so I am hoping that they want to practice their English. Nantes was the birth place of Jules Verne and they have a very interesting steam punk museum if we get a chance to see it. https://www.theplatinumline.blog/a-visit-to-nantes/

I am back. Nantes was very interesting and I just about managed to talk in French. The highlight is an enormous mechanical elephant which carries about forty people for rides round the old dockyard. It was very tiring as the French people wanted to show us everything. We did eat and drink well. Coming back we were delayed by the pope who was making a papal visit to Geneva. It must be one of the best excuses for being late ever.

In money making news I have just reached 50 points on populous live so should get paid next month. I joined last August so it had taken about ten months.

Something a bit different for money making this month. I have been taking part in a Bristol university study on the effect of dopamine on memory in dementia related Parkinson disease luckily as a healthy control. It was quite interesting as I spent two nights at the Bristol sleep laboratory and had an EEG, an MRI scan and an ECG. I got £90.00 for expenses. ( They provided two dinners and two breakfasts and I used my bus pass to get there so I did not have any expenses).

The worst part was getting the glue out of my hair where the electrodes for the EEG were attached but I enjoyed meeting the students and doing the memory tests. My Populus payment arrived on time and I got a 50p referral bonus on QMee which I think must be someone on here so thank you. Every little helps.

I have been asked to do another memory study next month, this time on the effects of the change of glucose level on performance. It is quite an interesting way to make a few extra pounds. I also got asked to do a taste test for protein biscuits. We spent a pleasant half hour discussing such things as crispiness and crunch. Not good for the waistline but very enjoyable. I even had to mystery shop a cookie shop. I know.. but someone has to do it.

After months of very slow earnings on YouGov, I received a 150 point survey followed by an invitation to a 10 survey sequence with a bonus of 100 points if you do all ten. It only adds up to about £7.00 worth but it means I might finally reach a pay out this year.

I am doing the glucose study this week. I have to wear a glucose monitor and then see how eating at strange times affects my memory, mood, appetite and circadian rythym. It also seems to involve looking at more pictures of food. I left the laboratory today feeling very hungry and that was after having breakfast. On Wednesday and Friday I have to do the same tests after having fasted for eight hours.
I do like working with students. It is something I miss from my working life as a nurse.

We also got to mystery shop two pubs last week which is a very enjoyable way to make a few pounds.
