I've taken the test, so I'll report back if I hear anything. It was mostly easy but there were a couple where I wasn't 100% sure. It's not very clear how much they pay.

Edit, after reading reviews, I think I'll pass :D

Yes. I spent about a month trying to make Rev work early last year when my health was too bad to take work with deadlines as such. It's pretty awful, and I've got about 20 years of transcription experience! To be honest, you're better off putting your eggs in a variety of baskets and earning a bit here and there rather than trying to earn through Rev. Those bad reviews don't lie.

Oh no! That is bad to hear as it sounds so promising. I have a chronic health condition that led to me having to leave a job I loved with a local council six years ago. I am too unreliable for a 9-5 job so I have to take work as and when I am well enough. Very frustrating.

Since leaving my beloved job, I have been trying to make ends meet via a variety of work from home things, mainly matched betting, ebay and Etsy, but more recently things like cashback, prolific, Respondent etc.

I will look at the reviews. I am on a Money Making thread on Mumsnet and have heard a lot of posters have failed their entrance test :(

BTW, does the entry test just consist of English grammar and spelling type things? I consider myself to be ok at that but I may end up failing miserably

I would like to take the tests to join, but they can be soooo time consuming and a real brain drain. Just wondering if it will be worth it even if I pass??? I have precious little energy as it is due to my condition. Don’t want to waste it on a non-starter!

How much did you earn per hour on average, if you don’t mind me asking? What made you think it was not worth your time?

Apologies for all the questions! Tell me to mind my own business if you like! I suffer with such debilitating fatigue that I must only use my limited energy for worthwhile things, if you know what I mean. Precious energy in very short supply spent doing tests for non-starters, poor earners, or rubbish tasks will be wasted. I have no energy to waste.

Thank you in advance for any advice, tips, and experiences you can share. I really appreciate your time for doing so :):):)

If you're looking for transcription, try take note. Their tests are hard but the work is well paid.

Appen might also be up your street, plenty of threads on here.

So sorry I vanished yesterday - the barometric pressure got to me and I just crashed (I have chronic migraine, so you can imagine how much fun it was...). Like you, I can't work a 9 to 5, although I mostly manage to keep up all of my singing teaching, and the occasional bit of performing. Otherwise, my career is sadly pretty much over, at least for now.

I can't remember what the entry test was like for Rev, although I have a vague memory of really quite a difficult transcription from a video. It absolutely sapped my energy, that much I do remember. There's then a 'training' period (which is paid), but I realised after that I was making about $10 (not pounds...) an hour, and I'm very experienced and very fast. So not great if you're starting out, really. And particularly not if you're low on energy and concentration.

At the moment, I'm trying to get onboard at Appen, Lionbridge and iSoftStone for different projects so that there's no conflict of interest, and no firm deadlines or demands for revisions to load on extra stress. My concentration and short-term memory are absolutely shot to pieces at least for the present (although about to try botox, acupunture, and physio in addition to preventative and acute medication, so fingers are firmly crossed!). I have been working as a copywriter for a few years on the side, but I'm finding that I'm just too slow at the moment because of brain fog.

I can't think of anywhere better for transcription, but like me, you might be better off finding something even less stressful.

I did some work last year for them and they do pay on time and weekly, but I found the work was difficult to do, mainly because of the bad audio which put me off, and was taking me ages to complete.
