Hello again people.
Just wanted to get your thoughts on the above title.
Obviously a lot of people are selling the idea of it to make make money (Buy my course/affiliate link etc)
Yet the actual doing of it yourself seems feasible. I wonder what it takes for a new channel from scratch? It seems you need quite a lot of videos to gain traction.
Anyone successful with this?
I would be happy with £100 a week.
Just don't want to waste time as I have very little as is!
Trends - Problem solving - How to - Top 10's. All seem great but ahhhh competition. Is it really as simple as quality vids and consistent uploading with a bit of VidIq/TubeBuddy?

Anywho ramble over.
I welcome the insights!

Cheers
Nate

If it pops it can go very well but you would
Need to do more than just upload the video to promote it - being all over social media and promoting said content would be a must!

Yeah. The low competition keyword thing makes sense too.
I wonder - outside of social media promotion, would paid promotion be a good option?

I didn’t even know you could pay to promote your videos on YouTube

Both my kids have channels showcasing their creative projects and are relatively successful. They would say that the key to making money is regular content and engagement with your audience. Both do not use their faces or real names. On a good month, my eldest makes more than I do which is becoming a regular occurrence lol. In the beginning, it is basically hard graft with little reward unless you are very lucky. Do you have a hobby or expertise you can share?

Thanks Sherliarty.
Yeah I've heard consistency is king.
How long did it take before they saw results? Great to hear they are doing well.
I've heard that generally around 30-50 videos is where it starts taking off.
I have narration skills. I did wonder about quotes and humour. I sometimes get put off by overthinking about competition and wasted time!

Thanks. I would say about a year, but you have to also have a certain number of subscribers and view time before you can apply to be monetized. There was some luck involved, a much bigger YouTuber saw one of the videos and used it (with consent and credit) on theirs which brought a lot more traffic to the channel.

From what I've seen a 20 second video of a cat usually does the trick.
