Between them. Facebook and Twitter have driven me up the wall today. Ive just posted a link on a tweet and on the twitter page its showing the link, the pic on the post page and underneath the title of the post its displaying the meta description I entered on yoast. How can I get that off the tweet?

..I think Ive worked it out Ginny - in the meta descritption on Yoast ive put just keywords and phrases rather than a paragraph/snippet of the [post. Just looking at a tweet on sky news and theyve got a headline and a snippet - my snippet is random keywords lol

Yes, you are spot on! The meta descprition is a mini summary of the article. The keywords go in another box. Glad you got worked out :) Re Facebook, the wrong image for the post has been a problem on and off for years! Usually have best results posting directly onto Facebook page for your own posts. For sharing, most plugins allow you to specify a featured image, check the social plugin does not conflict with your theme or Yoast (deactivate Yoast and social then reactivate to test)

Is that when you post directly to your page or sharing from your site? What plugin are you using? (see above also)

That photo (of a hoover) is on my home page but its not the image which goes with the article the link is to. When you click the link , the post comes up with the correct image

Cannot see a hoover pic on that page, only some images, not posts.

You are using a personal profile not a business page and looks like set to posts not public, hence me not seeing anything. Note that it is against Facebooks T & Cs to use a personal profile for business - lots of people do but it can be shut down and I've seen this happen to people with successful businesses. Sorry to put a downer on you and add to the "ggrrrrrrr"

Thanks for your help, This blog has been live a few weeks and the posts are showing as indexed on my google console. If I change the meta to a proper snippet will it result in page errors?

Don't think it will (maybe someone else @Jon maybe can confrim)

If you do need to change them though best time is now when the site is quite new.

Changing the meta descriptions won't affect your indexing beyond what it shows in the SERP so your site is still being indexed but what will change is what it shows on there

I was chatting to a friend about this today funnily enough. I am just about familiar with facebook. Over last weekend, I set up a new personal account and from that account set up a page . But wow how difficult is a page to manage!! As the page, you literally cant do sod all. Cant comment, interact, like...unless Im missing something , its just wait patiently until someone happens to find your page.
Ill stick with that one for now until I can work out how to get a bit more interaction with a page

Facebook Ads say hi

That's what Facebook want you to do

Facebook pages ARE NOT INDEXED by Google. Neither is the content within them

So because of this the only way of getting noticed is paying to have your site promoted to the demographics you are going after

You can comment on other pages posts as a page but not one personal profile posts - complicated I know!. Pages can also join groups as long as this has been enabled by the group owner. Also be aware that adding a second peronal account is also against FB T&Cs. They want you to use a page! Pages can have ads..........

Groups seem to still be the best (free non ad spend) way to build a following and get ineraction on Facebook. Your page can create the group so it hosts it, this helps people find your page too.

But as Jon says Facebook really wants you to pay for ads!!

Complicated is an understatement lol! I rarely use it, have all of twenty friends on my own facetwit and one of them is a profile of my dog..
