Really struggling to make money at the moment with task apps out of the picture and Neevo slowing down...

Are there any good typing jobs about? Preferably ones that don’t want experience? I did search the forum and saw someone mention Accuro but I don’t think they are taking anybody on at the moment and neither is Take Note.

Any suggestions are appreciated, or suggestions of anything else I can do at this time.

Do you mean transcribing or freelance writing?

Transcribing, I think lol?

What is there for freelance writing though? I know about Copify but I didn’t like it. And Fiverr I’m a bit scared of because I don’t have any experience to offer so I can’t see people paying me. And I don’t want to be writing essays, looking for something quick and easy really like Neevo?

I'm sure we've been down this road before lol

With Freelancer writing, you are offering to write for other people. So you could say charge £10 for 400-600 words (so not an essay)or something and then list a load of topics you WOULD write about (lifestyle, sport, money, holidays etc.) - So you would put all that into your listing on Fiverr / PPH etc.

Transcribe writing is when you are listening to audio recordings of say a phone call or meeting and you have to write it up with all the required punctuation so it's technically a bit more difficult

You need to be VERY flexible when you approach new areas of earning money from home. You can be more stringent about what you will and won't do and what you would charge but when you are just starting out with this sort of stuff a 'splatter gun' approach will work best at the start ;)

I just find it daunting thinking of something to write about... I’d prefer the transcription where I know what I’m doing, I’ve done quite well with it on Neevo. Do you know of any good sites I can get onboard with?

Also do you know what happens with Appen? I signed up and it says I need to qualify for a project before I can get paid work, but I’ve applied for 4 and it just says I don’t need to do anything else at the moment, but is that normal? It’s been a few days.

You don’t have to think of sometime yourself as such

if I came to you as the customer and said “can you write 500 words about things to do in London as a family” then a quick google search which give you enough jumping off points for you to write about

But how realistic is it if I write a profile on Fiverr and say I will “write content for you etc” ... is someone really going to pick me? Wouldn’t they go for someone who had loads of reviews and is an experienced writer? I know you have to start somewhere but I’m just having a hard time believing anyone is going to choose me and pay me.

No ideas on the transcription haha?

Make your ad look appealing and yes you are right EVERYONE starts somewhere

ultimately it’s up to you as it always is when it comes to earning from home - the money is there if you want to make it but if the hurdle is self confidence then I do understand but you may struggle in other sorts of opportunities where you have to take a “leap of faith” at the start!

I’m going to give it a go thanks Jon.

Still would appreciate some help with Appen. Don’t know if it’s normal to be waiting this long to hear anything once you’ve applied.

No transcription companies are taking on at the moment. Everyone is closed to new applicants because they haven't got enough for the contractors they already have.

Also Accuro is medicolegal and you need experience within medicine or as a legal secretary. You'd be best off starting with Rev or Scribie (both no files at present, although you can do the initial sign up but no screening).

I have, twice, they don’t answer. Same with Lionbridge.
I would imagine they've furloughed most of their staff, with one or two people doing freelancer queries from home. I don't think it's at all realistic to expect normal timescales to apply to anything right now.

If you're pitching for jobs - particularly writing jobs - at PPH, you don't need to worry about what you're going to write about. Seriously. The client will tell you. But please, pitch at the going rate - £10 for 600 words does no one any favours. Even Copify pays more than that. The standard rate at PPH seems to be around £25 per 500 words, so set your rate there.

And yes, someone WILL take a chance - it might take a while, so if making money is the important thing right now then you're better off sticking with Copify, even if you don't like it. I'm still getting job notifications every day so at least there's work there to grab.

What is PPH?

On Copify I wrote a review of a slots game and they came back to me and said I needed to edit the highlighted words to make it more original. They highlighted the actual name of the slot, how am I meant to edit that? So I gave up.

Most likely because if they go over a certain percentage of certain words for SEO purposes, Google will cane them accordingly and their rankings will suffer. That's all it is. It's a learning curve, and if you're going to do any freelance writing through any site it's a hurdle you'll have to jump.

Sorry if you think I'm being tough about it, but I've been earning anything up to a third of my income a year through freelance writing for a decade now, and content mill work like Copify is always keyword-heavy. The good news is, it's amazing training for striking out somewhere like Fiverr/PPH/Upwork and having a bit more freedom. You learn to write quickly and to a formula.

Hi if you drive there is a thread on here about Beelivery, delivering shopping to people. I signed up this week and getting around £40 a day from it. Much easier than task apps!

Thanks I did do one the other day for £13.49. They only wanted a bottle of Malibu and Diet Coke. Don’t really fancy doing them when they want loads of stuff, especially with having to queue to get into the shops at the minute. I keep looking but I’m only going to do easy ones where they don’t want much.
