Just back from going to see a concert in Berlin, decided to use Uber for a couple of trips, It has been a while since i last used Uber... back then, you put in where you are and where your going, the app then gave you price options, and whichever you chose was the price/vehicle type you get, now, this seems to have changed (at least in Germany) you get the price, but it is now an estimate, your final price is made up after time and mileage is calculated, on both my Uber trips ..first a 7 km ride from airport to an Ibis airport hotel.. estimated at 8 mins, took an hour, because driver had no idea where he was going and in the end i had to guide him with Google maps, the price trebled, then after the concert last night we decided to just get an Uber back to hotel rather than hope public transport was still running.. again, got my "estimate" and again driver got lost, i seen his map and he completely missed the motorway exit it was telling him to take, he then went past FIVE more exits before turning even after we were telling him he could turn at each exit he passed, i then had to guide this guy in too....now i dont know if this was a rip off attempt, or incompetence, but the price doubled when i got my receipt.. Anyway, what you may not be aware of if you paid more than the price quoted at time of booking, you can request a refund via the help section on the app... it is automatically and immediately readjusted... in fact on BOTH fares, the actual price now charged was LESS than the quoted fare, so, be wary using Uber and if you think the price is wrong use this facility...HTH someone

I've had to do it twice in London. Both times the guys were using sat navs but 'missing' the correct turning. a few taps on the app and refunds both times.

I heard from an Uber driver that his own son, when getting his first uber, was told by the drive he had to pay cash and the driver wouldn't let him out until he paid. The son called the police and the uber driver let the son go.

Crazy!

I've used Uber for the last few years in both the USA and here in the UK and have got nothing but praise for it really.

It's a godsend for work nights out!!!

Aye Jon... it IS great, but you just need to be very wary of what you get charged not actually being what the on screen price is.
