Hi,

I'm wondering about the above. I did an afternoon course with Voice Over Academy two years which I really enjoyed. Then lockdown happened, I did one job from home through them and nothing since. I'm wondering again about trying to pick up some work. Does anybody else do this if so do they work for an agency?

Offering this via Fiverr seems to be where the quick money is. If you look at some of their feedback they must be making ££££

Then there are online voice agencies like Voquent

I've sent a couple of proposals for some and also set a gig up on Fiverr. I've also been in touch with InterVoiceover, where I did my course. They are hopefully relaunching their studio in March, so I'm planning to book myself in for an audition then. Fingers crossed.

I had someone ask if I did voice over work on Fiverr, even though my profile made it pretty clear what services I offered. I do podcast editing and a lot of people in that area do also seem to offer voice overs. So maybe it's an in demand skill. I'd be interested to know if you get much work through Fiverr.

I will do a voiceover

won't convert as well as

I will do a voiceover about crypto

Definitely make them searchable. I get a consistent (if small) stream for academic long-form articles on opera singers (niche enough that I get clients joining Fiverr to use me), so voiceovers won’t be any different.

Maybe use Google questions to throw up some popular options?

Although I haven't tried them myself, acx.com is meant to be good. It's where you can do the voice overs for audio books on Amazon

I have kind if looked into this but i have no idea or budget to set up even a tiny studio space in my house. Any ideas? I have a room upstairs I could use but even in there you can still hear family and dogs downstairs

Are you near to London. It might be a better idea to get take jobs where you go into a studio to do your recordings. I've decided to go down this route instead. I am paying to get a reel done, so will take it from there

Hi. A closet space filled with thick clothes and blankets can be great- plenty of vids on YouTube. You can get by with a usb mic as a starter (for freelance sites like Fiverr etc)- Blue Yeti are popular (£200 I think), but a better option might be a condenser mic Rode Nt1 or Nt1a (around £200-300) and include a pop shield and lead. If you choose a condenser you'll need an audio interface - Scarlett are popular - around £100-200. Audacity can be used to record for free- though Reaper is much better and with a really long free trial. For the background noise (Can't use it with Audacity) a plugin called Waves NS1 is amazing - I think I got it for £30 on sale. Best vids online I've found are Anthony Pica (A Vo's Journey- has a great podcast too!) and Booth Junkie. Hope that helps!
