That article pretty much confirms every belief I have in these MLM systems, especially when it comes to the focus being recruiting others over actually selling the product! Although I was quite surprised to see the upline was apparently contacting friends on her behalf trying to recruit them, that's really underhand.

The thing is forever living is one of the MLMs that cost money (a few hundred from memory) to sign up to.

Do they not do any research before hand and look around and check feedback from other people before they hand over the cash???

I would honestly rather spend all day doing surveys than a MLM system. They make me feel uncomfortable - unless you can figure out how to get a sizeable platform with relative ease then you're never going to be able to shift the volume of product to make it worth the work. After the first couple of months, where family and friends buy products out of a sense of obligation, who is there to sell to? Anyone flogging their tat on my Facebook feed is quickly hidden or blocked!

Hi Jon,

The truth about this woman's story is far worse, she has been completely ostracised by her so-called Forever family because she wanted to leave when she saw what was really going on. I've been reading articles from others who have had negative experiences with this MLM on a site called Timeless Vie. It is a parody MLM set up to shine a light on dubious MLM business practices. Very interesting stuff, some shocking revelations though.

I read this article and being a Forever distributor I did have a couple of points. I don't think anyone forced her to stay up until 2.30am to 'work'. The amount of hours you put in to anything that you choose to run yourself is entirely optional. It does sound like she had a very bad experience with her upline. I don't know how common that is, can only go on my own personal experience. My upline are supportive and not pushy in the slightest. In fact there was training last night on retailing products over recruiting. I am only a little active currently as I am pursuing other things currently including my own health journey (not pushing the Forever products before anyone says!).

My very good friend is an example of the system working, I won't disclose her earnings but she works hard, has sacrificed a lot and good on her. The same hasn't happened to me and I won't be bitter about it but I think choice comes into it a lot :)

It's interesting to hear that someone is prioritising selling the products over selling the business as this rarely seems to be the case with MLMs and specifically not with FL.

Does this approach actually work for you? How much product do you manage to sell to actual customers? By that I mean not including any you buy for yourself or to give away, or that your downline buy for themselves. How much worth of stuff do you sell to people who aren't FL reps?

Don't get me wrong, my friend hasn't risen to the top by selling the products! She has recruited a lot of people. I don't sell very much at all, but I am not pushing it. My close friends and family approach me if they need anything and I am comfortable with this.

Such a sad article, feel so sorry for that lady. I have heard similar stories from other non British MLM companies, I tend to keep away from non British MLM opportunities, they all tend to put so much pressure on recruitment, where as British Opportunities are more laid back and put more emphasis on the products.

Gave the whole MLM thing a try with Kleeneze a few years ago and it didn't work for me.

Never again!

MLM really gets on my nerves, I got asked to buy something recently. I said I would pay what it's worth, not the price once the commission is added. All overpriced!
