I'm thinking of approaching insurance companies, surveyors, loss adjustors etc to see if I can get them to delegate the job of taking photos of damaged properties for insurance claims or survey reports. What do you think? When I had storm damage to a bay window roof the insurance company had to rely on the pics from the roofer I had called to come out and quote for it. But I think he over exaggerated the damage. I am thinking maybe that as I can say that I am not looking to gain any work from it, an independant photo might be an idea to put to them. I'd be able to photograph a roof as well as my son can use ladders if need be.
What do you think - asking before I start looking at upgrading my camera from an ancient one to one that has super dooper pixels.

Not a bad idea at all. I had a mate who did some photography outside of work who contacted letting agents and offered to basically go and take outside / inside photos for properties and he was rushed off his feet with it!

What do you think price wise though? Only planning my local area so not to push petrol prices up. Twenty quid if its just run of the mill exterior shots. Bit more if I have to get roof pictures?

yeah I think that's a fair price for outside shots once you factor in petrol etc.

Well the cheeky buggers have obvs seen my post! None available in my area but I do recall getting a survey from them which looked a bit different to their usual stuff - may have been this. What is the rate on the job, Jon? I'd want more than a fiver and if it involved going into a property which is occupied, not a chance

I've not looked myself, I don't use the app but I just saw it on there on some promo stuff I was doing about them and thought of your idea!

Just looked at the screenshot again. Looks like that was about this time last year and the fee was a tenner. Looks like quite a lot of detail required for what they were paying
