I've had a few hours at home :D Have got all of my money related spreadsheets done and organised, cashed out a few hundred from Paypal, checked and seen how healthy my bank is looking, moved a bit of savings and checked my maternity allowance payment schedule. I have then reviewed some products I received for free, checked I have scheduled blog posts correctly, checked I have tweets ready and now I am going to finish off by preparing 3 slow cooker dinners for the days ahead.

Nice to have a few hours to organise my life! Back to the grind tomorrow with hospital visits and lots more, but today was a GREAT day.

This arriving in paypal today, been using uTest less than a month and can't believe how much I've made in in a couple of weeks.

How does Paypal handle the payment in via a different currency?

you just go into currency and converts it and then it comes becomes GBP

takes 2 seconds

You can also just hit withdraw, withdraw the other currency amount and it automatically converts before it hits your bank.

As above, I've got a $ balance set up in paypal for it to go into so they don't automatically convert it. Still trying to decide if I want to withdraw it back to the bank (and take the crap conversion rate Paypal give) or leave some in there for the times when I purchase in $.

The exchange rate is pretty good at the moment at over 67p per $

The trouble is the rate paypal give is 1 USD = 0.676107 GBP while the actual rate is 1 USD = 0.68599 GBP, which would lose me £2 on the conversion, but if I then went on to buy something in USD, I'd pay a similar rate if I was funding with GBP, whereas if I leave it in USD I don't have to pay conversion if I buy something in USD.

[....](following on from the 'what has p*ssed you off thread)

When I placed the order the delivery date was available. I replied to their email saying, due to their error I expect them to honor it. They called me back saying due to 'supplier issues' they couldn't order it but they could order me the special valentine's day bunch and they would give them to me at the price I paid. Great, I said. Just to check, I'm still getting 24 roses for the price I paid. Oh no, the customer care person said, they are 12 roses. The they said the thing that always makes me laugh.
"There is nothing more we can do."
There is, I replied. You could send 2 of your 12 valentine roses bunches for the price I paid. Then it would be the same thing.
"I'm not sure I can send out £50+ roses for the price you paid."
Well thats slightly different. I've ordered them in good faith. You are just trying to make people pay more money for something which is a bit cheeky.
"I will need to speak to my manager to see if we can authorise that level of discount."
Ok. I'm happy for you to call me back, no rush though. As long as you call me today I'll be over the moon.
"I'll call you back when I've spoken to them.
*15 minutes pass*
"We can do 24 valentine roses delivered for the price you paid and delivery on the date you want."
Excellent! I really appreciate your support.

Nice big bag of parsnips from the allotment has made me smile today :) Hopefully this time next year we will have been harvesting a ton of our own homegrown produce :)

I thought my husband was mad to start keeping an allotment (two plots!) when I got pregnant but so far it has been great. We both get a break from one another and we can go down there for fresh air and a nice walk whenever we want. Also, the plots are lovely and big, I managed to get seeds for free from some companies and we've spent next to no money for what is turning into a really enjoyable hobby!

Only a few months from now I'll be down there writing my blog posts with my new baby - can't wait!

[member=839]spike241[/member] your David Duckovny post made me smile. I'm mega excited about the X Files return. Feels an age since I've been on the shed. Been rather self absorbed with a lot of family problems recently. I am smiling today for something really simple. I good lie in! Amazing how a good sleep can make you feel good. Oh, and the sun is out too! Great for us SAD sufferers.

I couldn't wait, I've streamed them already (the first 3 anyway) :D I only started watching last month though so I'm a bit behind the times!
I'm actually watching season 1 again right now.

I spent about 2-3 hours listing 25 or so items on eBay yesterday. They are all brand new items that have some wear and tear to packaging from storage (or are great). Anyway, I've already had FOUR sales today and I've had offers on another 5 or 6 items. I've now got someone interested in buying 4 items as a bulk lot, which is ideal as I'm offering free postage on everything!

I'm really pleased as all the items were just sitting around in a box for the last few months and I've already made over £100 on eBay in the last 60 days, with 25 more lots still to sell (hopefully). :D

won against a 'fixed penalty notice' today which ParkingEye had tried to give to me

It was at a hotel I was parked and and had registered with the hotel reception that we were parking outside during our stay, including telling them our reg number.

Then the other week we got a photo of our car and a demand invoice for £100

sod that

SWEET.

I've appealed my stupid Euro Car Parks notice... £50 for 20 mins parking, I don't think so! They also ballsed up and didn't send the letter within the right time so there's no way I'm paying. Then tried to back date the letter! Little s-bags.

Edit - Oops O/T

My cat curling up in a cardboard box like an idiot is currently making me smile :)

Been doing a lot of work over the past few weeks to get my finances in shape and I think I'm almost there now, set up a savings account for all of my uTest money to go into, I'm planning to transfer everything (or almost everything at least) that comes out of uTest into this account and just forget about it until I actually need the money (probably to pay of the 0% BT I have first, and for the tax I'll owe on it). I know if I leave it in my current account it'll end up going onto bills, etc and I'll end up wondering where it's gone and be stuck when HMRC want their cut.

I know it sounds boring but I get stressed out about money a lot so feeling like I'm actually getting it all sorted is a good milestone for me.

Got voucher on Saturday for free bingo, free meal and free drink for two.

Took my Mum. Spent £7 on the 'extra' bingo games.

Won £20, £21, £15, £10 then we split that and decided to go on slots. Won £100 ish there so we split that and came out with nice profit each :) Best of all, got home, Toms got the same voucher for two as well ;)

I posted a picture of me in my new Younique t-shirt (that I won) and I've had a fair few comments about how slim I'm looking. Now I know I messed up from Thursday until last night so did a bit of damage but people telling me that they can see a difference has made me smile and added an extra boost to rectify the mistakes of the weekend haha
