We didn't manage to get to the IAT Fairford airshow which is running this weekend, but the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey just flew really low over my garden - I'm happy :)

I'll be even happier if the Red Arrows fly over later. ;D

I was there on Sunday. It was very loud but I didn't see the Osprey fly which was the big draw for me. The other planes were pretty cool :)

We live quite close to Mildenhall where the Ospreys are based and see them from time to time. When Obama was in London a couple of months back two of them flew over escorting his two Marine One helicopters. Boy did they make a noise.

Pokemon Go, for 2 reasons.

My 3 year old is enjoying searching for Pokemon which means we've been having some nice daddy daughter walks while looking around the local area to find things, her favourite thing is getting me to take a picture of her with the Pokemon around her then looking at the picture later.

The other one is seeing people of all ages walking around my area (outer housing area of a small town) looking for Pokemon on Pokemon Go, it's so obvious when you see someone driving or walking suddenly head closer to a Pokestop, or staring at their phone, saying "it's over there" heading towards somewhere you've just caught one, etc.

[member=928]askgar[/member] I didn't think it was out in the UK, how is everyone playing it...?

If you're on an iPhone you can create a US App Store account to download it. (which is what I did)
If you're on Android you can download the app from a different website, although there are apparently some virus filled versions around as well so it's a bit more of a risk.

The Independent released a guide on how to download it, I don't know how reputable the Android link there have there is.

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/pokemon-go-uk-release-date-and-how-to-get-it-now-on-iphone-and-android-apk-a7127326.html

So this looks to be like a virtual spin on geocaching - fun for kids.

Hit my target of making £1000 (outside of work earnings) already! :D

Holiday and Christmas covered. Might try and save for a new laptop next.

Was that risk free spread betting? (if risk free spread-betting or very low risk spread-betting existed?)

This was my own money. I haven't spread bet for a long time due to being busy with matched betting. I pretty much follow "The Naked Trader's" approach to trading which I recently re-read before starting.

To keep it real and the risks low I am using spread betting rather than shares - which I do trade as well in my SIPP. Happy to talk more about my trading/investing if this is of interest.

I've heard of The Naked Trader and I have done some Spread-betting in the past. I kept my risks low and over all lost money (less than £100). I know that might seem like a small amount of money to some but its a lot to me. I've built up a fair bank roll for MB and I'm thinking of using a small percentage of that on something a little risky that I could turn into something long term (i.e. other than the not risk-free MB offers).

Would a Spread-Betting thread be against the ethos of The Money Shed?

I went for a routine blood test this morning and one of the receptionists is learning to do blood tests. The nurse asked if I minded if she took my blood. (her first time ever) She went on and took the blood, she was so nervous, but she did better than a lot of the old hands. She was so happy that it all went OK and she did a little happy dance, which made us all giggle :D

It was only after she had finished that I told her that I was a fully qualified vampire. I thought it would be a bit unfair to tell her beforehand ;)

You are brave [member=224]Topaz[/member] - I won't even let a student near me, and always insist on lying down. I am so squeamish about it!

Needles don't bother me in the slightest - but take me to the dentist and that's a whole different story :-X

I have bloods done at least monthly, when I was pregnant it was often every 2-3 days (To check for pre-eclampsia and HELPP symptoms in my blood) and my lord, the older ones were the worst. One took SIX attempts and then I had to ask to see someone else!! Whereas some of the younger ones are the best in my opinion!

I decided to see what this Pokemon Go thing was all about. Downloaded it, went into town and hung around with the kids outside maccy D's (using their free wifi) and caught myself a pidgy, much to the amusement of the kids, who thought that I was far too old to be pokemon hunting. Ok, now I've worked it out, my job is done :D

I'm getting some chickens!

It's my birthday in a couple of weeks and the Mrs just ordered me a chicken coop for a birthday present.

Then we're going to get 4 rescue hens and have lots of lovely fresh eggs.

They are going to be named after characters from Orange Is The New Black and will be living in the Litchfield Hen-itentary.

I'm so excited!

Possibly, depends what they look like. They're all going to be red, so one will probably be Red. One will definitely be Taystee. If there's a chunky one it's Big Boo, a scraggly one will be Dogget, if one is a bit of a bitch and picks on the others it's Piper, a tall one will be Vause, one that clucks a lot would be Brook...
