New on PAS. This is an updated repost of an item first published in January 2018, but it seemed appropriate to publish it again just before the start of a new year.

https://www.poundsandsense.com/take-penny-challenge-save-667-95-time-next-year/

Hi,

I would just like to say that I did this. I started in January 2018 and did the reverse penny challenge. It is the opposite of the penny challenge. On the first of January 2018 I started with 365 pennies, then 364, 363 etc. It is quite tough to start with as it adds up to a lot of money. However I think it gets easier as the year goes on, rather than harder, that this is the best way to go. Once I got to June I decided to do it monthly as the money needed became easier . I created an Excel spreadsheet and ticked off each day as I went along.
So here I am 365 days later and with £667.95 in the bank :D:D:D
I did have a major glitch in March when my gearbox died and needed replacing but I managed. I took a little break and started again when I could. The thing was that I had committed myself to doing this and that nothing would get in the way.

Holly crap I did it :eek::eek:

I just remembered something. On my wall in front of my laptop I have something pinned. I don't remember where I saw it but it is simple and true and applies to what I have just previously posted. It also applies to so much else eg. weight loss, studies, life in general.
My note to myself says:

"A year from now you will wish you had stared today"

Well, a year ago I committed to the reverse penny challenge and now I have seen it through. What shall I do with my £667.95 ??

Any suggestions fellow Shedders??

Presuming you have an emergency cash fund, consider a Vanguard fund and then forget about it...or use it as a matched betting float.

I'd probably use it as a matched betting float x

Lol. I would never have thought of that! I imagine it would be tough in January - when everyone is broke after Christmas anyway - but I do like the idea of it getting easier as the year goes on. Glad you achieved your target, and good luck if you try it again this year!
