@The Reverend I get any winnings re-invested into bonds. That way they go straight into the next draw and you circumvent the minimum £100 investment thingy :)

I recently got forwarded a letter from an old address. It turns out I have £200 in Premium Bonds I didn’t know about. It was a cheque from these that I received. I’m writing to them to get the bonds assigned to my ‘new’ account and the address updated.

I am also asking them to re-invest any winnings going forward so I’m not sent cheques anymore!

I won £25 x 2 on premium bonds this month.

Got a post going live soon with the details of what I've won in 6 months.

For £50,000 I've won almost £500 in just 6 months, so well on track to win above the % they quote.

Is anyone doing that Quaker Oats comp to win £10,000? I’ve never eaten so much porridge in my life and it only started 3 days ago!

I look forward to reading it. I'm also doing a blog post on it but its also part of a wider post.

£50k in PB you should win about £500 a year so you are bang on track to what is expected. I'd be really interested to see what you win over the next year or so but then I am a stats fan! I don't have anywhere near your level of PB...one can hope!

It's 1.4% now I think (gone up recently), so £700 I think? But it only just went up this month.

My husband has a few thousand and he's won nothing!

I won a Matt Haig children's book from Mumsnet, which came in handy as a late Christmas present.

I keep wondering about premium bonds. Are they worth the investment?

I have a few Premium Bonds because they're fun - I can always dream of winning a million, and unlike the National Lottery I can always get my money back.

But I don't have many because on average the actual amount you win is less than inflation, so my money would actually be losing value year after year.

I keep some cash for emergencies in current accounts paying higher interest than I'm likely to get on Premium Bonds.

Also use regular monthly saver accounts and Chip, the savings app which pays up to 5% if friends use your referral link.

Beyond that I've started investing which is doing much better, but there's always the risk of losing some of the money.

When I can, I stick some in a pension too because I like the free money from the government.

We are doing a bit of both. I'm helping build his pot up now - but just a few hundred a month! x

Personly, I think you are doing the right thing. The two of you having maximum PB holding will be really helpful at any points in your life :)

I know they aren't big earners. I know you can make more money elsewhere. I know that the return is dreadful. I know the odds of winning aren't great. But besides all that, I still do them. :)

I've not seen this, I love porridge so will give this a go!

Me too, I’m eating so much right now though! You can enter up to 5 times a day and they’re giving away £10,000 per week for the next 10 weeks. You can enter on Quaker Oats website, Facebook or insta. Good luck!

Oh I don't mean just, but compared to 2017 it'll be just. Taking it all a bit easier this year as my Mum's got her open heart surgery at the end of this month and I'm her sole carer. Had to think if it was sole or soul, think both apply ;)

Anyway, I agree with you completely. Also, it is a fun way to have a little gamble!

We will likely be draining them dry (Mostly) when we buy our house in 12 months or so, but I'll be looking forward to starting to fill them back up again!
