Hiya,

been a member of these boards for a few years and recently came back thanks to the email re: the audio recordings (thanks!)

im currently on maternity leave, and November marks the start of three months of zero pay so naturally I am looking to earn a few quid, especially since this month seems to be bleeding me dry in terms of birthdays, car repairs etc.

I am just curious as to how people prioritise their work when making money at home or if they have a routine for the work they do. I see so many options but I am curious as to how people keep track of everything they are part of? Do people keep lists? Excel spreadsheets? Just have excellent memories?!
I like the idea of having fingers in a lot of pies as I don’t want to rely on any one area too much for money but I am quite scatty!

interested to hear peoples thoughts/suggestions on this :)

So you are spot on about having your fingers in a lot of pies. I’ve lost high paying work with leapforce or 63336 or Chacha and if I didn’t have others things going on as well then dealing with the loss of income would have been more of a pain

as you’ve seen with the audio task over the last 2 weeks online earning can be quite fickle and vanish from nowhere so it’s important to consider looking at incomes you can control better like @bobcat2010 and his affiliate links or @Dick Barton and his eBay sales.

If something doesn’t pay a good rate of pay I tend not to bother with it as, well, I wouldn’t turn up for a normal “day job” that paid that amount so why should I here just because it’s online work :)

Hi Jon
Yep, ebay sales do keep the money coming in and that is why i would encourage anyone to give it a go. Just as a taster made £30 on a sale this week of 26 hammers. Went around the car boots asking if anyone had 50p hammers and came back with the above. Sold as one lot for £51 and without any refurbishment on my part. I am bringing in about £20 a month with my low content notebooks, but nothing as good as bobcat.

The thing I enjoy about affiliate and print on demand income is that I can just forget to do any work on one for a while and it will still make money. I don't have to be active on it all the time. So no excellent memory here! lol. That's not to say you can upload one thing and just make money I have around 20,000 designs for print on demand clothing and currently have 800 books live through KDP.

I have a few on Redbubble and they did pay me £26 this month, but I don't put many up.
Found the free interiors Bobcat and am playing around at the moment. Your books do very well, how about your clothing?

Between 3000 - 4000 a month. November/December normally doubles/trebles that. It is my ‘full time job’ though ;)

I suppose the above shows you @Autumn500 just how much diversification can pay off when you invest your time!!

That’s a valid point-the audio work was easy and decent money but the uncertainty of the whole thing could be stressful for someone relying on that income,I wouldn’t like to be in that position,so definitely long term it seems the goal is to get something more reliable/sunstainable

That is impressive! I’m always impressed by people who seem to have a good ‘eye’ for things to resell-my brother in laws wife is so good at spotting things whereas I am totally useless! Maybe I just need more practice :)

Yes I think passive income is the ultimate goal-putting in work at the start/at intervals but getting a steady stream of income coming in even when you aren’t investing as much time as possible. It definitely sounds like you have put the work in to have 20000 designs! Your clothing income is fantastic as well-good for you!

Absolutely! Definitely some food for thought!
On a side note is there a way to multi quote in a post? I think I made about five posts replying to people when I could have done it in one-oops!

Hit the QUOTE button on each message and then you will get the option to have them all in one post..

Hi,

Every evening I create a to do list. These are random tasks that I should take to move towards my goal of setting up passive income stream.

The next morning when I start my day, I go through the list and sort the list in priority. The most important to the less important.

Any time I get before I start my normal 9-5 job, I dedicate to ticking of things from my to do list.

I have stopped watching TV.

Any time I get after my 5 pm till the time I am in bed, I get on and complete the to do list.

Before going to bed, I go through the todo list and create a new list for the following day.

Reviewing the list helps me to track my progress towards my goal and keeps a check if I am doing things to move in the right direction.

Would love to know if someone else has a new way of approaching this?

I have most things set up on Outlook, so have all my emails coming to that and flag any that need attention. You can also add things to your calendar or set up to do lists with reminders so anything that needs doing will pop up, whether its from your email, calendar or to do list. I find it useful to have all that in one place. I then have a separate matched betting to do list to remind me about free bets etc, which I keep in my matched betting spreadsheet which i check daily.

that's a good idea, the number of free bets that have expired. Would have made at least £50

I bought myself a good planner! I'm not very good at blocking off time to do certain tasks but I know that's helpful for a lot of people. I just use it so I don't lose track of stuff and forget tasks when I'm juggling a lot.

I try to pick up easy work to balance the more brain intensive stuff - the audio recordings and some Appen/Leapforce/etc are great examples of this sort of stuff.

I found that creating a definite end point for the day really helped too or I burned out and worked really slowly the whole day. I'd write out all the things I wanted to get done, then a definite end time for the day (sometimes with a 'but you need to do this matched betting in play at 8pm but nothing that would take me ages).

If you can, getting stuff out of the way early in the day helps too. For a while I'd wake up at 5am because I had a family member in hospital and from the minute the rest of my extended family woke up for the day, they wouldn't leave me alone. I was in a much better mood and felt so much better when I knew I'd already got the bulk of my work out of the way and I say that as someone who is most definitely not a morning person.

Other than the to do list I also keep a spreadsheet that tracks all of my income and expenses each month as it keeps me motivated but also aware of expenses (profit accumulator membership, etc) so I'm not overestimating how much I have to spend.
