I've seen quite a lot of people posting on here over the years saying that they aren't making as much as others or they don't understand why they are only earning pennies compared to others

Generally, I can't think of one opportunity that's discussed on TMS that anyone else can't do. Yes, you might have things like Lionbridge where the gap between applying and starting can be a few months but that's just how it is for everyone and isn't unique to that individual.

So that do we think the difference is? Is it motivation and drive? Is it people are more flexible and willing to try new and different things instead of being stuck in the 'survey zone' forever?

I'm generally always happy to try new things online to make money as long as I know it isn't a scam and that I'm going to get a good pay off for it. Nothing is really 'off-limits' - heck that's why I went hell for leather like a lot of people last summer doing the iSoftStone audio transcribe work but I grabbed $1000 out of that so it was worth it even if I did drive myself slightly crazy doing it every day for 2 weeks lol

Even on other platforms like Instagram or Twitter I will engage regularly with people who operate in the 'earning money from home' sector and they don't even know about how the stuff you guys are earning from on here!

For me, it seems the ones who earn the most are the ones with the most flexibility. Trying out different things and see what works and pays off for them seems to REALLY pay off!

Exactly that, I think. I am lazy - it's my only fault.
I'm sure you aren't!!

Do you tend to just focus on 'easy money' online then would you say?

Mainly. Things I can dip in and out of quickly, like prolific surveys and matched betting.

i used to make a few quid from surveys, i can say that i could of made alot more if i drove, have kids, went on international holiday more often and have insurance on everything,

sometimes its just depends on your life profile,

i could of made a cake load on task apps but im not very good at stealth :p

I think the most successful people are the ones who set goals and do whatever they can to hit them. @rich110991 and @nat21luv are hugely inspiring, and driven.
Personally, I do what I do because I enjoy it. I aim to make about £200 per month on the things I do, and keep it casual. Many of you are so inspiring to me though.
For anyone new, just read the monthly earning diaries, and see what people are doing, and see if it works for you.

I do think there is an element of luck involved. For things like Appen, Crisp, Neevo and Lionbridge, you can apply but then you have to be offered the work. With Neevo, I am on some projects whilst others never get the email, the same applies to all the others too. There are exams you have to pass for certain projects but you have to be asked to take the exam, you can't do it without the invitation no matter how motivated you are.

The pandemic has hammered home the point that savings are important and diversity is important. A lot of this online work will be plentiful one minute and gone the next. You need to look at how you can use the money you earn to make other income streams whether it's your own business, investments or training for other skills.

There are things that I just don't understand with matched betting - how you make money from accumulators and I don't make enough from other parts to start risking refunds. I could make more if I did.

A lot of things offered by Appen and the like are difficult for me - I can do a lot on computers but for some one off jobs it would take me too long to learn.

A blog is not an option as there will be times when I cant find time to write new articles and I wouldn't have a clue how to go about getting paid for it.

At my age I want to start slowing down and not having to study and make more work for myself. Surveys and slice the pie can be boring but I can do them when watching the TV.

Aww thank you! Thats put a smile on my face :) @rich110991 is my inspiration too, he’s a machine!

That’s precisely why I’m driven- because I set a goal with a date and I want to achieve it. Also, I’ll try and do anything that makes me money and there isn’t much I wont do or turn away. I have started being a little bit more picky with certain types of jobs because I know I can get paid more for doing something else...but only if that something else is there!

I’m not sure I agree with “being lucky.” Not everything I do is online. I’m a single parent but I’ll still run out to deliver alcohol at 11pm at night for £13, or resell items from car boots/charity shops at the weekend, surveys, market research groups, affiliate marketing on instagram, matched betting, neevo...the list goes on! No, I’m still not on Lionbridge or had any work from Crisp. So I am “lucky,“ but I create my own luck, like many others on here.

I had a REALLY good work year in the diary for this year. My aim was to look after my health so that I could work as hard as possible, and bank at least £6,000 on top of what I needed to live.

That went well.

Oh well, the best time to start with that was a decade ago, and the second best time is right now. I'm starting to work People Per Hour for all I'm worth again, so that's going well.

With accas you make money from all the acca offers that bookies promote.
so like a refund if 1 leg of our 4 leg acca loses type thing. Use the acca software on PA/OM and you are away :)

But what do you do when you run out of dates / goals?

Make another one! :D

Disney 2021
House deposit
Holiday
Second home
Boat
Investments
Travelling
Next months pay :D

The list is never ending. My underlying mission is to rescue animals and have a sanctuary one day so I need enough money to be able to do that, but for the here and now its to donate to local animal charities

I think some things depends on peoples circumstances as well - I cant drive so that limits me to the delivery ones etc (esp as I would also have toddler in tow) I don't have much success with transcribing tasks no matter how hard I try and what would take five seconds for one person would take me longer to keep listening (think maybe just how my brain is wired, I have dyslexia as well).

I feel that I am lucky with the projects that I pick up with appen but I am also driven to keep doing the hours and get the money in. I think with appen some times people can be put off if they fail an exam and then dont try again. I think with a lot things you need to keep trying at it. What can also put people off is when you first start and you don't make much as you need to build up a bank of different things - and people may feel like they have put in a lot of work for little return and yet if they kept at it they would see the rewards.

I have a full-time job and online earning is my side hustle. I started to pay off some debts and I managed to do that. Now I use it to save for a house deposit for the future and sometimes to treat myself. I aim to make £100-150 a month and I'm happy with that.

I think for me, being focused is the biggest difference. Some days I have a lot of time but can't decide what to do and I waste that time instead of "earning" anything. I also earn on a variety of platforms, so if I get bored, I can switch to the other one. Over time, I also learned to ditch platforms if they aren't worth it.

I also create small goals for myself - i.e. save X amount by this date or even no-buy months on certain stuff so expenses go down.

I would like to get back to matched betting but finding difficult to restart to be honest.

It's good that you have your fingers in quite a few pies, that's the way to do it so you don't tie yourself down to one thing!

In terms of matched betting I would say now is the PERFECT time to get started again, the offers at the moment are fantastic as bookies try to get punters to come back to them!

I will take a look at it. Is it still pretty much through Profit Accumulator?

It sounds cliche, but the main attributes to be successful in anything on or offline are consistency, graft & desire.

I work full time for the bulk of my income, so my online money making is just a side project to bolster our savings. I work bloody hard during the week, so try to avoid anything that looks like an actual graft online. I prefer the things I can do in 5-minute bursts - so things like prolific, or sharing referrals like Trading 212, etc. This obviously limits my online income, but I'm ok with that.

I've even stopped matched betting because it was feeling more and more like actual work to get much money out of it.

I have been trying to grow an amazon and eBay reselling businesses, which are growing slowly because i can only invest a few hours a week into them and any money I make gets immediately reinvested there.

If the economy turns to shit and I lose my job - I would then NEED to make the earning work, so my effort & desire (and available hours) would significantly increase.
