I've tried traffic exchanges but it seems like most people are click aimlessly clicking to get hits, not actually interested in the links.

Reddit has incredible overzealous spam filters even if you're in the correct sub.

And most other forums will instantly ban and remove you for posting referral links.

What is it you are looking to promote?

Referral links mostly.
I've seen a lot of folk on here who peddle referral links have their own website in their sig. So they have created a site called something like referrals4u.com or something and on there is some decent SEO content + the links themselves so they earn money from their links in that way rather than having to endlessly manually post on lots and lots of websites

I just post em here. No one on insta or ticktock seems interested in free money, especially if it's a trading app that requires a deposit.

I use facebook to promote whatever it is i want to promote. You have to do it a certain way so facebook don't ban you. Check my profile to see how it's done

Honestly I would pick the best ones and create a niche website around it. Add a bunch of content to it, add value to people, get them to subscribe to a newsletter or put them on the path by selling them a cheap/related product and then working upwards. The more data you can capture in exchange for something the better, you may find you do better playing the long game.

I would create a spreadsheet with all your links in. Create a squeeze page and send you sheet to the emails you capture
Has that ever really worked for you? I've always found it a bit spammy and the low traffic I can drive to it (without playing a trick or two) doesn't account for much. I've fared better doing individual recommendations which I realise you already appreciate, is a very slow way to grow!!!
