If all you want to do is use surveys I would say a cheap one off amazon would be good enough. A Lenovo or Acer should be fine. Use our Amazon discount finder tool to the right (or bottom if you are on mobile) and grab yourself a great discount!

My advice is if you can afford it, get an apple laptop.

If you can't afford it, go to a supermarket and buy the cheapest windows laptop they sell.

£500 is such a strange pricepoint as thats too expensive for a 'cheap' laptop and not expensive enough for a 'good' laptop.

As long as it has Windows as the OS, it will be good for everything. You used to be able to get one for about £300 but its been a while since I've been in a supermarket big enough to have a computer section!

hmm . I think you would end up with a 2015 model like me (not that it's bad) and prob get a decent price for one via AVForums Laptop Classified section

Sorry, I should have added, buy a NEW apple laptop.

:)

Get a refurb from the apple refurb store and never look back! :D

But for the OP, get the cheapest NEW windows laptop you can buy. From a proper shop so you get 12 months warranty and challenge yourself to have the laptop pay off itself within (x) months.

:)

Thanks,

The Reverend

I would save for a Mac (an air MacBook on Argos at the moment is £749 and if you take out the Argos card they sometimes send out money off vouchers a certain spend so you could get one as a great deal plus interest free on credit card).

Definitely not this

Macbook is 5 times the price and will not be 5 times better or give you 5 times the money making returns.

My 3 year old Lenovo bought from new for £250 is running absolutely fine and has been since I got it. It does feel a bit cheap and plasticy and chunkier than the more expensive models but its does its job (matched betting, surveys, ebay, email, streaming and general internetting) perfectly.

As an aside. I think 2020 will be the first decade since the introduction of home computers that we will see a decline in the number of homes with proper desktop or laptop computers as more and more people rely solely on phones and ipads and smart TVs with various apps.

I work in a school and already most of the kids say the only thing they use a computer for is typing up their homework.

I much prefer a computer with a proper mouse and keyboard myself to squeezing a tiny phone screen in and out and doing the finger swipe thing.
