We're all adults in here so logic says we've made some right clangers along the way in regards to wasting money!

Mine would include

£1000 on a car years ago that I did no background checks on and bought randomly. I died a death less than a month later. Looking back I probably shouldn't have bought it when the wing mirror fell off when I was test driving it and I brushed it off like it wasn't a problem!!

£400 on a weekend away in Blackpool of all places. Thought I had found an amazing hotel during a very hot weekend in August. Got there and it was a total craphole (this was in the days before TripAdvisor!) and we left after about 5 hours and I obviously didn't get any of the money back!

£300 on a dog! - We decided to get a Labradoodle which needed to be more poodle than lab because my other half couldn't cope with the fur dropping off everywhere as she is allergic to it. We get it home and it just won't stop malting so the I ring up the breeder who is in south Yorkshire and ask if I can take it back. So I load up the car with the dog and take it back and while driving down the M1 it shits everywhere and then i only got £100 back from the breeder even though we had had the dog less than 24hrs!! Lesson: STICK TO COCKER SPANIELS!

What about you guys???

Have THREE unopened dash cams sat here ranging from £20 to £110, Bought a Xbox for about £400 and bought 5 or 6 games, used 1 game once (Far too hard... a Wii is my gaming level) I have 3 remote control helicopters all over £200.... used one... Am currently deliberating (begging the wife) for a Parrot drone fixed wing i seen whilst doing an MS in Curry's reduced £200 odd to £350... i know it would get played with a couple of times... Sat Navs... i need one for my work, always get the highest top f the range TomTom ones, just bought the latest one 2 weeks ago, because my current till then one had crashed a couple of times... absolutely nothing wrong with it really, so that has gone in my wee van, the other before that is in my wife's car, the new one comes to work and have 2 other working TomToms in cupboard.. I have a £3000 drum kit, decided i wanted a more "rock" kit so spent £4500 on that, and i have a £1700 Electric kit in my "man room" for practising.. nothing wrong with the 3 grand kit at all, so i now use that for when i do stand in gigs with bands and my £4500 "beast" is ONLY used on my Foos trib gigs

In the last 10 years; very little. But I wasted a lot of money when I was younger. Buying a BMW M3 was probably my biggest waste of money. Not that it was crap, because it wasn't but it was totally unnecessary and depreciated about £12000 in the three years I owned it. Not to mention the insurance. But It seemed a must have at the time.

Lovely car though

Ahhh I am dreadful at this!! I buy so much makeup that I either never open or use once and decide I don't like it. It then stays on my draw for a couple of years until it's unusable and gets thrown away!
I really need to stop doing this, I must research it before I buy it but if I see something unique I just have to try it! My worst is probably a primer I spent loads on which just made my makeup fall of my face.

I would have written a polite complaint letter to the manufacturer asking for a refund, if it had been me. At the very least I would expect to be re-imbursed for a product that did not work, and hope to get a 'bonus' for the inconvenience/expense/disappointment etc.

That's a really good idea I am definitely doing that next time. Have you managed to get any money back through doing this before? If so do you have any tips on what to say as I have tried this with travel and hotel companies before and got no where but I have never tried with makeup or other products!

my degree. Have never used it and could have got to where I am without it. Just left me with a ton of debt. Keep telling myself it was worth it for the life experience

mine would also be a car. Wasn't sure what to get or if i'd get a new job so got a cheap runner, then ended up selling it a year later for much much less. To be fair it had run great for the year, but it did drink petrol.

Clothes that are a little bit too small but I am definitely going to get into. One day I might do and if I do I will never have to buy clothes again.

I think this is possibly mine too. Some of mine have gone 'vintage' by now.

Ooo this is an easy one to answer. My wedding to my ex-wife and supporting her and my step kids for years, while she leeched of me and I was too stupid at the time to realise I was being milked more than a herd of cows.

13 grand on an audi A3 when I had a perfectly good car. Bought it just before the emissions scandal hit so it lost value straight away and had to trade it in after a year because I got cramp driving it. Lost nearly 5k. Mind you I'm still toying with the idea of buying a Ford mustang which will probably be a massive drain on the wallet!

Strangely the biggest and worst thing I bought was a combination lock off a woman on ebay, she didnt provide code when I asked for it she said she didnt know and refused to refund. when i gave her a negative review got an email telling me I was a mean and nasty person.

Ebay gave me the money back, still have the lock one day I'll work out the combination :)
