I tend to peak at building flat pack furniture. I'm absolutely fine with an electric screwdriver and an Allen key! Can build anything so long as I can follow the instructions!

I remember amazing myself when I figured out how to rotate the valve correctly to put water into the boiler!

But when it comes to anything that involves Drilling I'M OUT!

Same with Plastering

Same with Painting

Then It's time to pay someone and just get them to to do it for me as otherwise I will end up making a right pigs ear of it!

My dad on the other hand could turn his hand to anything to improve the house!

This has come around again as I am currently looking for decorators to come and repaint our living room + Stairs + landing so probably looking at shell out maybe £500 odd paying someone to do all this for me!

Where does your skill level lie when it comes to doing things around the house?

I live in a privately rented house so some jobs I get the landlord to pay out for (currently having our bathroom tiled, and will be getting a new front door soon), and although I have electrical training I prefer for the landlord to get a qualified electrician to fix stuff. I'll have a go at anything really usually without fear e.g. I've just ripped out a nailed in fitted wardrobe with my son from his room that was put up in the 80s at a guess. I've also ripped out all the sealant around the window to replace with new stuff. My only problem is I have recently diagnosed health issues which mean I get exhausted easily and some days I can barely move but because I am so stubborn I forget, over do it and end up useless for days afterwards (7 days and counting this time).

I can wallpaper, paint, lay flooring, tile (but I wasn't about to do the entire bathroom lol), patch up plasterwork with filler so it's smooth (I am doing A LOT of that lately in my sons bedroom), use a drill (but I prefer to have someone with me) to put up curtain rails/shelves etc, reseal baths/caulking etc, do some basic plumbing (changing washers, repair old ball-c0ck toilet cisterns and I'm pretty sure I could take a radiator off the wall temporarily. We'll find out when I come to do the one in my sons room with him when the builder is finished storing the bathroom stuff in there!), basic electrics (rewiring light fittings, re-wiring plugs, change fuses, change sockets etc), I've helped build fitted cupboards/walls so I know whats what there, and probably a few other things I can't remember of the top of my head. I'm the eldest child of 3 and was my dads helper with the DIY so I learnt a lot.

Oh, and I also can do car maintenance including changing filters/batteries/fuses/bulbs and all the other stuff before a service/MOT ;)
