When to start increasing odds

PA training videos say do not go too high on the free bet odds. Yet the forum members are always quoting matches with very high odds such as 14/14.5 etc and potential profits from boosts based on £200 bets. I read (I think on PA) that you should gradually increase your odds. I cannot see me making £200 bets, but was wondering how and when do people start increasing bets and odds? I tend to stick to between 4 and 5 for the free bets.

I think I am stuck in the zone of bet x get y type of offers and wager this and get x spins offers. I need to step out of my comfort zone but don't want to 'stand out' too much at the bookies. Any tips or advice will be greatly appreciated.

I’ve personally never done this

The amount of liability you must need for a large 14/15 odds bet would be eye watering.

You say you want to step outside your comfort zone - are you at least doing Acca and horse refund offers?

Thanks for the reply Jon. I haven't been doing the Accas or horse refunds. The odds move so fast on the horses and I find it frustrating that the odds matcher says one thing and by the time I have logged into the exchange they have changed massively or there is no money.

I will make it my business to learn and practice the Accas and horses.

The time to step up to higher odds is basically when your betfair balance can cover the liability. Its not really necessary to go to really high odds though to make a nice profit at MBing. It is far easier to find higher odds matches on horses than it is football, but the rule variations increase the risk.
If you feel the risk is worth the reward, then its time to step up, but there are other ways, as Jon posted, to keep the income ticking along nicely.

If you are still mainly using Betfair rather than Smarkets or Matchbook then it is never a good time to go for high odds because the commission is rubbish. When you have a large balance in one of the other exchanges then it is a good time.

Honestly, I never worry about placing the odd high odds bet especially on football matches.

Example - Arsenal play in the Europa League this season. They will at some stage get an away trip on a Thursday night somewhere in eastern Europe. This will entail the game finishing about 9.30pm UK time and them not leaving the location until midnight at the earliest. Four or five hour journey and they're not getting home until breakfast time on Friday. That will have an impact on their next EPL game even although it will be on the Sunday. Say, they play at home against a team like Brighton/Huddersfield then those teams may be as high as 10.0. In reality a great price because Arsenals players will be knackered still, these type of bets are perfect for for an underlay or partial match and I do not see them as 'standing out' to the bookies.

And are also a good candidate for 2UP (on the opponent that is)
