Are you talking 9-5 jobs that are done from home?

Or direct selling jobs that just happen to be done from home?

Chammy found a great job recently on net mums!

Netmum's is a great place, they're not often but they do pop up. Normally on the local noticeboard which is where I found the one I have an interview for tomorrow. Mainly for parent support on the forum which I never seem to have the experience for ;)

I also check Indeed, Gumtree and PPH. You can find opportunities on Facebook sometimes but it depends on what pages you follow.

Getting a full time work from home job is still very a "who do you know" thing in that work is passed on through personal referrals more often than not

Good luck for your interview Chammy :) what's it to do?

I've never really looked on Netmums for jobs before I will have to start having a look!

I'm not sure I agree Jon actually, as more and more of the types of jobs I have done in the past, which never used to be work from home jobs, such as secretarial, telesales, travel sales, you now seem to be able to apply 'cold' for and work from home from day one, but I've noticed that a lot of them do seem to want you to be commutable distance from London so you can go into the office once a week, so that's no good for us northerners :(

I know people who have found work at home jobs the way you said too, by going in and working for a company in the office at first and then gradually the job becomes a work from home job

I don't think any of us need any help as to where to find mlm type jobs, do we?! :D

Have you considered getting your feet under the table somewhere and then asking to work from home a few days a week - a LOT of places now encourage this as part of flexible working

There are sites like

http://www.workingmums.co.uk

You might have to sift through jobs which are described as "regular" but are in fact flogging utility warehouse lol

yes that's probably the best of all the jobs for mums type sites and they have some really good jobs on there sometimes, proper professional jobs which are working from home.
But yes you do have to wade through a lot of mlm type jobs to get to the good ones! Gumtree is the worst for that, but still has some good jobs on there too, I joined my proofreading agency by replying to a gumtree ad

the problem with taking a normal job and then trying to persuade them to let me work from home is I have no childcare, no family or friends living nearby who she could go to, and the after school club closes at 4.15 pm so that's not much use - hence, I could work 8-4 no problem, but not 9-5. I really didn't think it would be such a problem for employers, but apparently it is :(

Thanks, it is admin support for the local board. Contacting/researching local groups and businesses etc to check the details are still correct. I am really hoping I get it :D

This is how I got my job :) I worked for them, circumstances changed, I left. I left for a while, worked part-time in retail, then I was still in touch with old employers. Things changed in their field (oil exploration) and it went from there :)

I think you have to be willing to be as flexible as you can be with this sort of stuff.

What you are asking for isn't just Mystery Shopping or WSE stuff or blogging etc.

You are asking for normal hours work but that is only done from home.

Those opportunities DO exist however they are few and far between and many people probably give up and just go the route of trying to earn money by working for numerous companies each paying X amount which then adds up to what you want.

I appreciate that, that it might be a question of doing this and that which will then add up to this and that, but there is a limit on how many different 'jobs' my poor brain can handle! :D

Just looking at Mum And Business, it looks to be a good site for job ads, and plus they have a section for collaborative working where you can advertise your skills and also link up with others offering opportunities to partner or otherwise get involved in their businesses

One for those looking for PSO/webcam/texting is textilicious (US-moderated, but often have UK positions). Though they really don't like newbies asking for help, just a friendly warning!

I get this type of work on Fiverr, and Fivesquid. Although, there are a lot of other places you can offer your services for this too.
