or is there no such thing as a long term thing in this space?
Please don't bombard me with referral codes, first I need to understand the options available.
I'd like to invest initially £100 and also utilize the free virtual "monopoly money" they give you to practise with risk free. Are there are newbie guides that arent sponsered or plastered with referral codes, so you can actually evaluate the offerings from a neutral positon. Do i need CoinBase? ETorro. Wallets. I am new to trading and totally Virgin Crypto guy.

I do quite like eToro. The interface is easy to understand. They've been around for ages and you can trade in their app and store crypto in their wallet if you want to stake. They also seem to deal in the reputable coins more than some of the alternatives.

I'd highly recommend Coinbase Pro. You need to signup to Coinbase first then download the Pro app.

Low fees (which get lower the more you buy/sell), quick execution, a wide range of crypto and easy to use App.

I've been using Coinbase. It's easy to use and I'm relatively confident my money is safe with them.
BUT - they often don't have many of the more emergent coins on their platform which means it's harder to get the ridiculous jumps that some early coin adopters have gotten.
2 examples come to mind here for me - Dogecoin and Shiba Inu both got added after they started spiking. My son specifically asked me to buy him some Doge earlier this year and i couldnt so missed out on the recent huge jump it had.

Seconding EToro - nice stable platform, been around for years and have just reduced the minimum trade size to 10 from 25 - which is much more small or starting out invester friendly.

I like crypto.com. Everything you need to do in crypto you can do within their ecosystem. Plus I am a sucker for a cashback credit card.

Other than that coinbase is worth checking out as they sometimes have free crypto for learning about different coins. Also Celsius is good if you just want to hodl and earn interest on your holdings.

Luno is a really easy app to use, and right now you can get £20 in Bitcoin for free via two offers (courtesy of Bitcoin Pioneers & Swapi). I'd posted this elsewhere on the forum, but I figured anyone looking for a simple cryptocurrency exchange might be interested.

£20 Free Gift(s) in Bitcoin from Luno

There are no deposit requirements to claim these offers, it is just free bitcoin for UK residents. The only requirement is that you set up a new account with Luno (a cryptocurrency exchange with a simple user interface). Enjoy your free £20 in Bitcoin!

1 - Claim you Bitcoin Pioneers £10 Free Gift from Luno using the code BPTIGHT10
  • Download Luno and sign up: https://www.luno.com/signup
  • Verify your account with photo ID (UK residents only).
  • Go to Rewards -> Enter the Bitcoin Pioneers code BPTIGHT10.
  • Once done, you will instantly receive £10 worth of Bitcoin in your account.
The BPTIGHT10 code has no use limit and does not expire, so please feel free to share it with anyone else who wants to dip their toes into cryptocurrency with a free £10 in Bitcoin.

2 - Claim a free £10 in Bitcoin from the reward/loyalty app Swapi
  • Download Swapi and sign up: https://www.swapi.global/
  • Create account and use the global promo code NEW650 (gives you 650 Swapi points)
  • Tap "Redeem" and choose £10 in Bitcoin with Luno (costs 500 points)
  • You will receive a voucher code that you can add to Luno for another £10 in bitcoin! -Then explore the world of Bitcoin! Also feel free to share these codes!
Why are Bitcoin Pioneers giving away bitcoin? Well they are a group dedicated to increasing awareness of bitcoin - what it is, what it is not, and what it could mean for you. They figured that the best way to do this was to give people some free bitcoin, so that anyone can dip your toes into into the world of cryptocurrency without it costing anything.

Bitcoin Pioneers also put on free information webinars where they explain exactly what Bitcoin is. You can register for the next information session: https://bitcoinpioneerswebinar.eventbrite.co.uk/
