I think it would be quite hard to make £500 only completing online surveys but I have loads of different websites and apps which I complete surveys through.
Some you get points per survey which then you can change into PayPal/vouchers.
I use my survey you get points per survey- I have around £70 to transfer into points-if you join Topcashback you can get £1.81 for signing up and completing a survey (http://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/cheekymunkey13)
Another is views bank but I can't find a referral code for that, easy to find on google.
Another is maximiles which you get points per survey.
Valued opinions is a good one.
Field agent is my favourite money making app! I love using that one. Surveys on the app quite frequently and most pay around £5 a time.
Will be keeping an eye on this thread for more ideas and hope mine are useful!

Well I didn't get offered a resit yet so maybe that's that! All is not lost though. There are the 2 extra hours of va work that I might be able to start next month, my plan is to make sure I get paid OK for may, which will be my first full month with them, and then provided I do, offer to do the two extra hours and see what happens from there. Then I will just need to look for something else which would give me a couple more hours a day on the same hourly rate

really cannot believe it!!!

Congratulations!
Good to hear things are really starting to go well for you
Is it a Council/Association House you were offered?
That will help allot much better than Private Rent. :)

Housing Association, it's at affordable rent, so not the cheapest, but it will still save us about £175 a month :)

More importantly though it is a secure tenancy which as a family is what we really need

It's back where I used to live with my daughter after I split with her dad as a private rented tenant - for 8 years!!! - so I think we might have been offered it due to having a local connection to the area

There are no carpets, curtains, furniture, cooker, fridge, washing machine or anything like that so it's going to be interesting! :D :D :D

But at least, at last, it gives us something we can start from :)

That is fantastic news! We have a HA place and we are now going to be eligible to buy it thanks to the Conservatives :D There is a maximum cap on the rent now with HAs too (the amount they can raise it by per year I mean). Our HA raise it by this, to the penny, (Home Group) so in the 5 years we've been here this is how our rent has gone:

£89 2010/2011 (£385 a month)
£98 2011/2012 (£424 a month)
£103 2012/2013 (£446 a month)
£107 2013/2014 (£463 a month)
£112 2014/2015 (£485 a month)
£118 2015/2016 (£510 a month)

I've rounded up but gives you an idea of how the rent goes up. This includes our service charge, which goes up a flat 3% per year despite them doing basically nothing :) Still, the rent is still reasonable for where we are and the flat is worth £160,000 roughly. We can get a £77,900 discount on that (the maximum cap) so hopefully in the future you'll be able to do that as well - our mortgage would be lower than our rent!

You can see the rents went up more at the beginning, now there is a maximum cap on what they can raise it by and over the next few years the increases should stay low :)

CONGRATULATIONS!

Yes it really is amazing news :) I still don't quite believe it, I will only believe it when I (hopefully!!!) have the keys in my hand on Monday!!!

We have only been on the waiting list 6 months but this was one of the ones they would only let to working people - which we are - and plus I have strong links to the area having lived there for 8 years as a private tenant and my daughter has been at two of the local schools and we have friends there.

I moved to that area when I had to sell my house as a result of splitting from my daughter's dad, lived there for 8 years as a private tenant and then we moved to where we are now as private tenants.

People say to me why didn't you apply for social housing years ago! But it was only 6 months ago that I finally admitted defeat and faced up to the fact that it was looking increasingly unlikely that we were ever going to be able to afford to buy! That was when I realised we really had to get out of private renting and the sooner the better because we were just throwing good money after bad the longer we stayed.

So yes absolutely amazing news :)

I'm on my way there to hand in our character reference forms now!

Hi sparkleandshine, just caught up on your diary. Sorry to hear you didn't pass your exam but when one door closes somewhere a window opens (or several windows in your sparklyshiny new house) :)

Thanks :) it will be a while before we can move in, there are still no carpets, curtains, appliances or furniture, and it all needs painting too! :D

But we will get there :)

Let me know if you need any advice about affiliate marketing. I have a formula that works pretty well for me but, as Kelzky says, there are quite a few pitfalls and scam artists to avoid.

My biggest piece of advice would be to avoid "lifestyle" blogs and go for a product oriented niche instead. It might not be as interesting, trendy or enjoyable, but i think they are much easier to monetise if you choose a good niche and are capable of creating lots of content. I always look for niches with an average product cost of at least £100 and I always target the U.S. market rather than UK. Obviously selling expensive products in a huge market is better than selling cheap (low commission) products in a tiny market.

After a crazy 6-9 months of learning Affiliate Marketing and posting like a madman (often at 2am!), I now only write about 1-2 posts per month. This generates an "almost" passive income in excess of $4,000 per month. If it wasn't for the day job (and my new allotment) keeping me busy I am sure that I could significantly improve on this. Provided you are creating quality posts containing 1,000+ words, the simple formula for success is: more posts=more organic visitors=more sales=more commissions.

Good luck.

What happened to your diaries? looks like they have been deleted?

Good luck ! It's a situation more and more of us are in with the credit crunch. Don't believe the "we're all in this together", quite a lot of us are struggling so much more than those at the top. To add my two-penneth... I tried Music Magpie as I had a pile of my daughters computer games and some old dvds and cds lying around the house. I packaged them up into 2 bundles and received about £25 so was happy as it also cleared my house a bit. However, I was a bit sceptical when the last lot only netted £3.75 !! and then I noticed that each time they "rejected" a number of the items but never a) gave a reason or b) returned them. Each time it diducted about £2 or £3. I know its not much but if its an ongoing thing, I'd want to know why they were rejected because they worked fine here !! Sorry to ramble ! Good luck with the £500 target, I'll aim for that too :)

Hi gang! Just to let you know I am, at last, back!!!! after a successful house move but sadly also an internet-less summer (resulting in huge loss of earnings!!! My fault apparently for signing up to the domestic rather than the business home broadband package according to my supplier!!!)

I've also just started a new work from home job with KalliKids...more of that anon!!!

But just wanted to let you know I'm back...I've missed chatting with you all and putting the world to rights... ;D
