Hi Everyone

Our home circumstances are changing and I am going to need to leave my job. I really want to take this opportunity to find a work from home job.

I have been looking into franchises, particularly weddings and events as these are my main interests however they all seem to come with an extremely large fee and I just don't have the funds to be able to start this. I have a qualification in Wedding Planning and Event Management but there isn't much call for it where I live so I have also been trying to think of ways to start my own wedding related business such as making favours, selling decorations or planning hen parties but again, I am lacking in funds.

I wondered if anyone had any experience or advice they could offer me? I'm really stuck on how to move forward.

Hi Gemma,

Great to have you over here.

Just so I understand the issue is it mainly money and location that is stopping you from setting up the business?

How do you party plan hen do's? Do you try and get in with hotels around blackpool and spa hotels and that sort of thing?

We have methods to earn an income on here that can earn you a decent amount (couple of hundred a month if you do something like work for 63336 : More details here http://www.themoneyshed.co.uk/earn-money-online/earn-money-by-working-for-a-text-qa-service-%2863336%29/ )

Thanks for your response Jon.

Yes money is the main factor. I have seen some great franchises that I would really love to get my teeth into, however they require around £7000 to start. While I understand I need to input money for a franchise, we have 2 very young children so I can't reach this fee.

If I were to start in business by myself, I would initially speak to the client to find out the type of hen party they were looking for and then do all the research and negotiating prices that some people don't have the time to do. I would also like to run a shop along side this selling accessories and games boxes as I believe that detail and personalisation is the key to making an event. The problem is, I just don't know where to start! There are a lot of very well known companies that put up big competition.

I love your passion Gemma. May I suggest you look at a MLM opportunity to help pay for your dream vocation? Eg I am a Phoenix Trader selling greeting cards. If you join and work hard at it you could get to senior Trader earning £500 to £800 plus per month. Cost £30 to be a Phoenix Trader. :)

Hi Gemma

What about also planning special occasion birthday parties to widen your options other than weddings and hen parties? With party planning, it wouldn't matter where you live as such because a lot of research could be done online and remotely. It would be a case of advertising though which could get expensive depending on where you wanted to advertise.

Another option you could look at is venue sourcing which ties in with your event management experience. You could contact local companies and offer to book their venues for them, free of charge (and you'd get paid your commission from the venues themselves).

If the wedding industry is really where your heart is, you could look at honeymoon planning or if you have a flair for creativity, you could make invitations and stationery as well as favours, handmade wedding gifts, cakes, wedding jewellery etc.

I have a friend who does wedding photography, she enjoyed taking photos and after an initial outlay on equipment, she managed to set up in business and earns a nice income. I personally do wedding make up and teach brides how to do their own make up.

Hope this helps somewhat!

Hi GemmaW,

As Phoenix suggests why not take a look at a direct sales/mlm company to get you started, it could give you some fantastic opportunities to make some money, get some great contacts for your future project and learn fairly cheaply.

There are loads of businesses to look at, everything from cards, homewares, kitchen, food, utilities, candles, health products and many many more, I have tried a few businesses and have now found the one I really love.

I'm earning great money part time but if you were to be full time you can make serious money at these opportunities.

I'm sure there are lots of people on here who would be happy to give you any information regarding their choice of business.

Good Luck with your search and I hope you find something that suits you.
:)

Hi Gemma,

I myself have a nine month old daughter and trying to sort out a business so I don't have to return to work after my maternity leave ends (but we still need an income so got to do something)

I myself love the wedding industry and can completely understand the situation you are in.

I have started a twitter and Facebook page @mummysmission and https://m.facebook.com/abbies.mum.3?id=100007846687112&_rdr for people to share their ideas on how we can help each other or those who have been there and done it!

From this I am currently working on a business idea which would work with your wedding interests. If you would like further information please follow me on twitter and il direct message you or please pass me your email address.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Gemma x
