Does anyone else look at the profiles of people who have applied for this? I initially did it to see what people wrote on theirs to get some inspiration for mine, but I'm really surprised at some people who have applied.

We've probably all applied for jobs where we don't meet the full criteria, but apply because it's a step up, we meet most of the criteria, we meet the essential criteria, we fancy the change, we do a similar job in a different sector etc, but when something says you have to be a native speaker, raised & educated here, then why do so many people apply from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh & the Philippines to name a few countries? Their profiles show that they meet none of the things I've mentioned. I just wouldn't waste my time (although the application doesn't exactly take long if you already have a profile).

I wonder how many of the nearly 6k applicants fail on this alone. Must be a nightmare to sort through them.

Good post
I remember a few months ago I did a post on fiverr asking for someone with English as the first language to write some content for me

This was what they wrote

I have had my profile rejected 3 times - firstly as it didn't have enough info, secondly because I wasn't smiling in the photo and then lastly because I hadn't used full sentences. Each time they tell me to fix this thing, so I add more info to appease them. Wait another 24 hours, and another message pings - something else needs changing. I feel they are taking the mick.

It does annoy me that I have spent so long on a profile and still have no work. My write up had so much info in it, and was grammatically correct and so very detailed (& in full sentences). To hear others have profiles which are not up to much it does make me a bit cross.

I'm surprised to hear on here that people have had their profiles rejected. I've seen all sorts by looking at people who have applied for jobs, or people with 'similar experience' to me (I'm clearly not on the same page in that regard). I've seen plenty which don't even have a $ rate on their profile. I've also seen them with $2. There must be very few places in the world where you could work for that and actually live. I thought I had to fill that in just to complete my profile. I've also seen profiles which extol their proficiency in 'english' and yet there are a lack of capitals, poor spelling and grammar etc.

I don't understand why they'd reject your photo. Plenty of them without smiles. Granted they 'suggest' you smile in the photo, but you also don't need a photo (you'll just keep seeing a message on your photo about how much more work you'll get if you have a photo).

There are also plenty of people who haven't taken any tests. I wouldn't really bother with them until you've taken some time to see if you're likely to get much work. They don't take long, but personally I'd take the fact that someone has say a degree over someone taking a few of their tests.

Re payment via Paypal
I have just cut and pasted this from Odesk.
Transactions have a minimum of $1.00 and a maximum of $10,000.

Where is the $100 mentioned? I can't find it.

No - not linked anything yet, was just thinking aloud!!
I might set it up to my bank anyway.

(Min payment for that will probably be $200 knowing my luck!)
