Would you pay an inflated price to buy a domain?

GoDaddy are known for hiking the prices up on your after the first year 'amazing deal'

Completely agree with this - in the past I've registered domains initially with GoDaddy to get the cheap deal and then transfer out to a cheaper company when it comes to renew :)

I think it depends on the domain - I personally wouldn't be the exaggerated price but it comes down to demand and supply - if someone really wants a particular domain there is only 1 of those available and they'll pay the price for it. .com domains particularly the short memorable ones are running out and so those prices are inevitably going to soar.

Fortunately there are loads of other extensions available - there seems a much more ready supply of .co.uk :)

Yeah I read that the other day as well. Basically, 2 word domains are in high demand which is why you end up with 3 word ones!

They sort of thought fixing it by releasing loads of domain endings would work like .london .pizza but people just want .com and .co.uk ones obvioulsy (at least in this country!)
