I have come across this great app called zip zero, which works by scanning your receipts and you get 1% back, towards bills. so I got to £5 and thought I would give it a try, so I chose the council tax as my first payee, but I cannot find anywhere on the council tax form other than my account number, as zip zero requires you to provide the banking information of the company you want to pay, so I looked on the water bill and same there no banking details, so I wondered if anyone else using zip zero can give me any advice on how to obtain these banking details, otherwise zip zero will be of no use to me, and it seems a shame as although not a big shopper, food and petrol receipts add up.

We have two blog posts about zipzero which may answer some of your questions

Are the sort code / account number for the direct debt you have setup to these providers not viewable from your online banking end?

that could be possible, ill have a look at that.
I have emailed the council for their banking number as well and in the process of trying to do the same with other companies, hopefully they will be obliged to let me have them.

When I log into my hsbc banking I can see all the sort codes / account numbers that my direct debit bills go to :)

Can you use Zipzero to pay your Credit Card? Though I don’t pay that by direct debit I can see from the paper bill the Sort Code etc to pay it.
Whereas Sky for broadband don‘t give info anywhere to be able to pay the bill through bank transfer same with Bulb for my energy there is no bank details and my direct debit in my banking info just shows the name and not the details that ZipZero need to pay those.
So was thinking if I have the Credit Card details then it could just be used to pay that surely?

It's against their terms and conditions to pay anyone that's not for a bill.

I paid off some of my Vodafone bill, just contacted them on live chat and Vodafone gave me their bank details.

Very easy to do.

Well it is a bill as when I use my Credit Credit Card I have to pay it off every month when I use it. It is just not set up as a direct debit that is all.

I’ve had a natter with them and their reply Is

“At the moment we do not allow paying off credit cards. It's simply not a utility bill for us. I can't say if it won't be possible in the future, but at the moment it's just not allowed, according to TCs.”

Thinks for checking on that. Sounds like they could add it as an option in the future. It would be useful to be able to use it towards paying things off on the credit card.

yeah i can see them doing great business if you were able to pay off your CC debt each month via them and then save even more money that way!

Monthly direct debits for car insurance and stuff and what I like about it!

ok so an update, I checked my direct debit outgoings and none of them have sort codes and account numbers, so at that point I am ready to throw the towel in, as it is impossible to get utilities bank numbers...but I kept going and found one for my water company, so I email zip zero and the reply I had is where did you get those numbers from, so I explained on googling them, the answer I had back was its not what we got on our database, we have a lot of them.....arrrghh why didn't they tell me that in the first place.
so if you are looking for sort codes and bank account numbers, contact zip zero first cos chances are they will have those details, you have only got to provide your own personal number to them.. by the way zip zero are REALLY HELPFULL and that is a positive comment.

Really impressed with ZipZero too. Spending anyway so the 1% is a nice little extra back. Surprising how it adds up quickly with supermarket shopping and then any drinks or food bought in coffee shops etc. It is good you can upload any receipt for all types of purchases.
They definitely have allot of providers in their system so it is worth asking if you cannot find the info yourself and they are very quick to reply back too.
Didn’t think at first it would be much use but can see how it can really add up quickly and it is a good way to be able to use the cashback to reduce monthly bills.

Fantastic to see you are getting on well with ZIPZERO. There are some exciting things planned for them in the near future ;)

I understand there have been some recent changes to Zipzero based on the current economic climate

Stage One: Beginning 22nd April 2020

  • We will put a hold on registering new users so we can use our current resources to take care of the users we have today.
  • We will lower the reward for each scanned receipt from 1% to 0.5%. This will allow us to continue to reward receipt scans but at a lower rate. This means that we will temporarily offer fewer rewards per user, but it also means that we can maintain our service to all our current users during this phase.
  • Finally, we will extend the verification period (the amount of time it takes for a receipt to go from ‘pending’ to ‘available’) from two days to seven days as we will have fewer team members on hand to manage this process.
  • We apologise for this month’s delays in carrying out transfers for your ordered payments. We expect to receive the additional funds from our current investors within the next two weeks and we will promptly resume payment of all transfers. We expect to be able to start making transfers by the beginning of May.

Stage Two: Beginning of May 2020

  • You may have heard the buzz about our new ‘online shopping’ feature. After testing the feature, we have decided to launch an ‘all-inclusive’ option for all of our users starting May. Our new online shopping feature will reward ANY of your online purchases with 0.5% for your bills. In other words, you will be able to earn ZIPZERO rewards for BOTH your in-store and online shopping. We will give you more details on this feature at the time of launch.
  • This new online feature will allow us to begin the process of initiating partnerships with retailers so that we can add ‘special offers’ in the coming months. These special offers will give our users larger rewards towards their bills per shopping trip. This will also provide our business with a solid source of funds so that we can sustain our rewards system independently.

Stage three: July 2020

  • We have made these changes based on the goal of gradually raising the rewards percentage on certain receipts beginning July. Users will also begin receiving more than the basic 0.5% on their in-store shopping thanks to upcoming partnerships with brick-and-mortar retailers. We will provide more details on this service in July.

In that case, I am going to try and build up my current balance, then submit for payment at the start of May.

Thanks for the update :)

No worries, I hope they can make it through this time as they are a decent fintech company and were working out of a WeWork office so i'm hoping its just a case of managing their costs for now

Wonder what’s going on with zipZero

Dear ZIPZERO Users,
Over two weeks ago, we shared some great news. We had managed to find an investor that would not only help us catch up with all our outstanding payments, but also help us trudge forward securely towards the future. We’d been confident that the investment process would be complete by now. The reality of the legal & financial hurdles involved in securing a sum of this size means that the delivery of the investment has been delayed. The fact that we are dealing with an international investor is the main reason it is taking so long -there are many hoops of approval they need to jump through to have the investment finalised. The chaos that Covid has brought to the table has not made it any easier or quicker.

We feel terribly sorry that we are forced to deliver such a dismal update once again. The situation is all the more harrowing as our employees & contractors haven’t been paid in full over this time. We have been counting on this injection of funds to cover our obligations to the key individuals who have kept ZIPZERO going in spite of the hardships.
We know you are tired of waiting. What we can vouch for is that the legal part of the transaction is to be complete by the end of next week. This is essential for the full transfer to arrive, which can take up to 8 working days. Rest assured that as soon as the funds appear in our account, we will execute all outstanding bill payments immediately. We're committed to covering what we owe to our users.
We’re monitoring the situation daily & doing our utmost to speed the process along. It would have been the most basic solution back in March to suspend operations but we truly believe in our mission. We have devoted so much time & spirit to helping our users pay their bills & we can only ask our users to hang in there just a little bit longer.
We share your frustration & we are looking forward to sharing some positive news very soon.
Thank you again for all your support.
Stay safe
The ZIPZERO Team

I know it is quite frustrating now. Hopefully, they won't go out of business.

My £10 payment to Sky has now been pending for over 6 weeks now.
