I watch a lot of full time eBayers on You Tube who claim to be able to find 'gold' in charity shops and car boot sales all the time.

I don't know why but I do wonder if they are all telling the whole story. Am I being unfair if I feel like ths?

Which eBay vloggers are generous with truthful information? Are there any to avoid?

I am always a little suspicious of videos produced by eBay vloggers who also promote their own course/ software/ coaching etc.

Put it this way, no one is going to watch a video or buy their course if the person appears on screen saying "So I went to the charity shops today. Couldn't find anything...... Tune in next week to see more of my exciting true ebay stories and don't forget to like and subscribe....."

The truth is there are probably 100s of those "couldn't find anything" visits that they don't talk about but only make videos about the few successful finds they do make.

I used to watch loads of these but I was constantly getting irritated that they'd walk into a charity shop or car boot, and always seem to find something for £3 and flog it for £150.

Nick Hills and his wife have an eBay store and he posts regular videos just showing him pick orders and stuff and he seems to be quite genuine

Been having a look myself.. most charity shops seems to have books and clothes around here with some dvds and blurays thrown in. Trick is to spot the bargain as they do check prices on quite a few things I suspect.

Bought 8£ shoes sold for £15 so it is possible.. Only thing is knowing the right items. BHF seem to sell prices at retail.. THey had topman shoes and selling at £30! (sayign brand new shoes even though some were marked - topshops stock room unloaded after a administration sale)

I saw someone in a charity shop last week scanning the barcodes on some of the books with his phone. I think he must have had a website that was checking the value of them, or just checking them on Amazon or something. Rather seems like cheating

It is worth noting that some YouTubers use eBay to generate more views on their YouTube channels. Listing an item for sale on eBay with an embedded YouTube video means that they could potentially earn from both the sale of the item on eBay and also receive a small amount from each time the video is viewed. Even if their YouTube channel is not yet monetized, getting traffic from eBay can trigger the YouTube algorithm to promote the channel and videos more.

So if you are a YouTuber, maybe this is a way of driving more traffic to your site?
