I've had some great SEO wins recently.
Since June I've been plugging away writing some great long-form content and then building backlinks for it and it's really starting to pay off as we enter into the 'busy season' for sites like mine.
On the downside, this has meant that I am hitting a fair number of resource limits on my current hosting plan and so in the next few days my sites (including this one) will be off to pastures new away from my current hosting platform.
The prices out there ain't so pretty anymore when it comes to hosting with quite a few of them now charging for things like 'email' as an addon!!
So my issues have been 2 foldI heard someone paying £150 a month for hosting fees for their 'blog'. Now I get 1m+ pageviews a year but I'm still on a standard £50 a year deal...I can't work out what volume of page hits they must be getting needing to pay £2k a year just to host their website (I guess they also get a 'premium' support but how much?????)
keyword centric content is your future!More 'wins' for me. Some general content going up - in the vein of the 'headphones' blog post which gets me 10 page-views a day-ish.
I only need another 100 blog posts like that and I'm laughing all the way to Mediavine.
This time next year, Rodders, we'll be millionairres!

Competitors?keyword centric content is your future!
Look at your competitors, what keywords are they ranking well for? Go after those!
I'm about the only person who seems to think this. Lately, I've lost some keywords to people I can tell are targeting me specifically (as I have a random mix of top posts) and I think it's time to stop giving a shit and start writing up whatever I want whether a 'friend' ranks for it or not lolCompetitors?
You've not been retaining your #BossBabe credentials.
We are all sisters in this together!

I do no keyword analysis and as such, don't "target" anything.
I've got a blog post coming up about a busted cable

ok! ok! ok!SEO, keywords, and marketing aren't dirty things ;-) It's simply trying to meet people's needs (and making a bit on the side).
You can still write about the stuff you want but tweak it in such a way that benefits both the visitor and you.
Sounds like a potential money spinner, especially if you give it a personal touch. Taking a strategic approach to this:
- Goal:
You could have some affiliate links for wire strippers and crimpers, or for replacement cables. Generating £££ from this would be your goal for the post.
- Market research:
Who is your target audience? Is it sizeable? What kind of words would likely connect with them - and what words would they use when researching?
- Implementation:
Write your post, then think about how you might tailor it for how you can best help people solve their problem. Use keywords in your heading, meta description, page title. Be as specific enough to be to be convincing, but broad enough not to appear too niche.
Use a clear CTA ("call to action" - or suggestion as to what the visitor might do next after reading your post. This could be a written instruction, a button, or an in-text link, or something more obnoxious. Get the visitor's attention, but don't annoy them.
- Longer term - could you reuse the content? For example, what type of cable is it? If it's a coax cable, then could you create a similar post about repairing an RJ45? And an RJ11? How about repairing a headphone cable? Each has different 'long-tail' (or niche) keywords which catch just a few more visitors each time, but all add up.
Creating clusters of similarly themed content on your site can help build you up as an authority on the subject, which in turn helps with SEO.
Have some keywords on me:
(Obviously I cast a broad net here, so may not be all that relevant to you, but should hopefully give you an idea of what keyword research can do. CPC is 'cost per click' and an indicator for how profitable a keyword might be. PPC competition is an indicator for how many companies are bidding against each other to get their ads shown in Google.)

ok! ok! ok!
2020 will be the properly doing some of this stuff.
Just for my understanding, for example, I'd want to put 'twisted pair cable' in the blog post a couple of times and hope I get that 880 a month on my blog. Or should I be doing something else? Do I want a high CPC and low PPC? What have you used to get that data you've shared?

Ubersuggest is free but doesn’t give you the quality of information that keysearch does which is only about £10 a monthare there any free keyword tools to research area? I need to look in to this too, wouldn't know where to start - even though I rank highly for certain matched betting terms.
I'm not planning to use Twisted cables as that isn't relevent to the post.but that keyword has FAR to much competition anyway, just look at the DAs on the top 10!
You are much better off going for a keyword with a lot less competition
If you are just 'writing stories' as they say rather than going after high volume, low competition keywords then you will never get the traffic you want apart from a few fluke times
