I had the chance to do it this year but I didn't have anyone to have my daughter for the entire day anyway, wow, those are some late nights!!
Just to bump this. I've today received an email from one of the two Councils who I've worked for in the past on the elections, asking for about my eligibility for next year's local elections, which take place on 3rd May. They are asking for a response by 31st December!
I suspect that they are a bit quicker off the mark than many Councils, who probably won't start recruiting until the New Year, but there's nothing to be lost by contacting your local Council now if you're interested (not all Councils will be having elections though).
If you've never done it before, you can read about the job roles earlier in this thread.
What could be a more enjoyable way of spending a birthday than counting votes?
My Birthday....
ugghhhh
gah, we can't win either way!!!Day after my wedding anniversary. I would be in lots of trouble if the elections were on the 2nd!
you would!!I’ve always wondered about doing this, I guess it’s a lot less glamorous than I’m thinking ha ha in reality not sure I could stay awake for counting.
Ok ok illput it on my thinking listyou would!!
It's good money for the time you are there
well yeah, same as anything you earn online with the exception of risk free matched bettingOk ok illput it on my thinking list
Id have to declare it for Tax though ☹️
haha, same here! but once you're in you're in!I'd love to do this too so will have a look on my council website. Last time there was a bit of an OAP clique that "do it every year" and I'm not part of the clique. I will try and infiltrate.
